Thought after his goal he’d get going again but he still sucks. Of course I know he can bounce back, but the drop off in play shouldn’t be this extreme.

He’s been better in the last few games though but it’s nowhere near the level he had at the start of the season

I thought he would be around 80 points this season but seems like he will cap off at 60ish. Pretty disappointing. Of course, real help from the blueline can boost the production, but his passing hasn't been as good (everyone knew his goalscoring would cool off).

Yeah, around 65 points probably. You’re right about the defense but also if the habs had an actual good power play, would boost the points.

I thought he had more offense in him but maybe not. Of course he has time to get better but his season looks pretty much like last year.

He deserve some appreciation despite that anyway because playing that much and against the best lines every night is not easy.

He had a bad stretch during the middle of the season last year too I believe but this is going on for way longer. His start fooled me because he showed he had much better athleticism and now he frequently looks gassed. Of course it's hard to complain about Suzuki given how he plays when it matters (playoffs) I just know that he can produce much more which is frustrating. I don't think what he showed at the start of the year was a fluke besides his 40+ goal pace. Guy can be a legit 30-50 center.

He maybe could i can see him be PPG but i always thought his type of game would limit his ceiling as a 1C. I can’t pin point what he did better at the start of the season other than it seems everything he was doing went in the net lol.

But it seems like he was playing the middle a little more and his passes were better, now it looks like he’s trying many blind passes or weak ones that isn’t working or look like he is not even trying.

He is such a zen kind of guy it was good to see him last night throw a hit or two. Maybe too much pressure of being a captain and struggling with the expectations of the Montreal media and worrying about his own game. Not that he didn't deserve the "C" but he doesn't appear very comfortable in the limelight.

He’s like top 5 in icetime for all centers in the league. He’s not used to that kind of workload.

This is a pretty good read!
More like it makes me sad. The exact same things have been said since the dawn of time. All the while the media just drools over making them speak French. Only to jump at everything they can deliberately misunderstand to make a scandal when the C gets a nuance wrong. Like Gionta like Koivu, Suzuki will not be giving interviews in French. But being honest about it is out of the question. Like I said - sad.

He is getting high end 2C money right now anyways.
Ranks 21st in terms of salaries for centers, he is getting 1C money. You could argue some contracts are older so let s look at recent contracts signed : Hughes 8m, Hintz 8.5, Thompson 7.1, Zibanejad 8.5, Hischier 7.2, Hertl 8.2. Hischier is the only high end 2C in the bunch and he is better than Suzuki right now.
Again not saying Suzuki is a bad player just mentioning that he is not the 1C you want to win a SC.

I think he will come out of this season and into next season even better. Right now he's not a 1C for a good team, but he will likely be one. He's too smart.

He and Josh Norris are getting similar salaries and are similar caliber players, that's the norm in today's contracts. Suzuki's playoff performances showed that you can go far with him as the 1C. He alone won't do it and it is of course ideal to get someone similar or better than him.

Then we agree we need a 1A C if Suzuki is a 1B C ;)
Regarding Norris it was an overpayment in my book for a player who has never played a complete season in the NHL.

He's gonna be our 2C once Dach commands the 1C.

Dach will be #1, Suzuki will be the perfect #2. Fantastic one two punch.

Let's not forget the importance of having quality centers under him. We can't expect 80pts if he's stuck playing vs top lines, pp, pk, 4v4, OT, shootout etc.. without any help for the defensive matchups and what not. When Monahan was around it showed.

They’ll be our version of Bergeron and Krejci.

Perhaps not PPG players, but excellent players who will give the team 2 solid lines who can play against anyone.

The Bruins have a template I’d like to see the Habs follow. In DK’s prime they never cared who the “#1” was.
