NTC is stupid, but let's all be honest with ourselves. He wasn't going anywhere in this first two anyway.

Dude blocks shots. He's a Torts wet dream.

Four years is f***ing nuts for a player like Nick Seeler.
For me, the grade on this contract hinges entirely on how the Seeler-Drysdale pairing looks next year.

If having a stable, solid as a rock defender like Seeler allows Drysdale to start playing like Walker but even better due to Drysdale’s speed/skating, this will be a W.

If Drysdale can’t stay healthy, or just doesn’t discover his offense the way Walker did, it’s probably an L.

4 years! What is Danny smoking. NTC for the 1st two? Woof. Dude will be 31 when new contract kicks in and they will be paying a bottom pair D 2.7M. I bet they could find a younger cheaper just as good (or bad however you wanna look at Seeler. I'll be positive and say good) dman a year into this new deal. Flyers really shooting themselves in the foot with this one

Alright....

NTC at all at any point in this contract - WHY.
Cap Hit at 2.7m when we are not worried about salary and cap going up finally...good.
4 years - Dumb...but probably why the hit is lower then anticipated.

If you want a veteran d around, this is actually not bad from a salary perspective. If you try to sign a depth D your likely gonna be looking at something between $1.5 and $3 mil.

the 4th year and NTC is really my main issue.

Giving a journeyman making under 3MM a NMC just sounds so absurd that you have to laugh, but in practice, I can’t see a legitimate case where the Flyers would be looking to move Seeler in years 1 or 2 and/or where other teams would be interested.

If he’s a great pairing for Drysdale, and is providing excess value on his deal, the Flyers will be ecstatic and he’ll be worth more to us than he would be in a trade. If he falls off a cliff, nobody will want 3+ years of an overpaid 3rd pairing defenseman, so having the ability to move him wouldn’t do much.
