Congratulations to Nick. Thankfully, the team has lots of leaders and the atmosphere has changed, since the departure of the last Captain.
JJ did nothing wrong with that loan. If he needed money and they were willing to lend it to him, how is that his fault. The fraud was on the lender, not Jack. Jack was a part of the story, as the owners of the lending company lied to their clients, nothing else. If JJ did anything illegal, he would have been charged.
Because he was trying to get money from someone not named "a bank."
To be fair, I think that whole loan deal was BEFORE Porty's story. The fraud part just came out later.
Was pointed out on Twitter today that really no one on the jackets team has come out and congratulated foligno . Sure hope the players weren't behind Dubinsky and upset with the choice

Dubi hasn't tweeted since the 18th, Cam since the 5th. I'm not going to look at the rest of the players but you can check their last tweets if you want. Foligno doesn't even have social media. It's literally the smallest detail ever, I'm sure they've all texted their congrats to Foligno.

Awesome , so one teammate gave a shout out ? You guys don't think that's odd ?

No. Did anyone give a shoutout to Joey on twitter after he finally signed? Only Dubi did.
And that was probably only because Joey gave him a shot when Dubi signed saying congrats to the #2C getting signed.
That...was not a shot.
Never have cared, never will care who the captain is. Just want to win hockey games.
For the record, I think Boone would have been the best choice, but Nick brings so many great qualities to the table, he will only help the team.
I'd say Letestu and Richards is pretty tangible evidence..I just... it's... WHYYYYYY? Boone is awesome and I love the kid, but where the **** is this amazing so-called leadership coming from aside from Porty's droolings? Where has he shown on or off the ice that he is capable of leading this team? Maybe he will in the future, who knows. But I just don't see it right now. With Nicky we have tangible evidence of his leadership. We do with Dubi as well. But Boone just doesn't have the resume that the others do.
Obviously it goes without saying that we don't know what goes on in the room.
But it was Jenner’s approach to the game — quiet, direct, relentless — that won the trust of coaches, the admiration of his teammates and the grudging attention of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs.
In other words, the boy may have left the farm, but the farm has not left the boy.
“The way that he works … it’s like he doesn’t know any other way,†Blue Jackets center Mark Letestu said. “He’s got that farm-boy approach to it, still.â€
The Blue Jackets have short-term and long-term views of what to expect from Jenner — and both leave them giddy.
Many within the organization see Jenner as a future captain of the Blue Jackets. At this rate — the club is entering its third season without a “C†— he might be the next captain.
It seems almost inevitable.
Jenner was captain of his PeeWee team when he was 9 years old, and he’s been captain of every team since, he said, including the Oshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey League.
“I’m not worried about that,†he said. “I’m not going to change if I have a letter or I don’t. I’m going to do what I do, on and off the ice.
“I definitely have that leadership ability, but a lot of guys here do.â€
Blue Jackets players say Jenner already is a leader, though not a vocal one. Jack Johnson, Brandon Dubinsky, James Wisniewski … those are the prominent voices in the dressing room during games.
“I don’t know that he’ll ever be a rah-rah guy,†Letestu said. “But guys gravitate to his style of play. Guys get behind that.â€
In the short term, Jenner is expected to build off last season, when he went from having a distinct name — Boone is his given name, by the way — to earning a name for his play.
“I’m really excited to see what he can do,†coach Todd Richards said. “To me, he’s a guy who has talent and skill, but he has determination that’s off the charts, a workethic that is off the charts.
“I’m expecting a lot more from him in terms of leading the way, just by the way he works.â€

Just curious, do you guys think Foligno had a career year, or are you expecting this type of production from him next season?
I would say a career year. I just don't see 30 goals a year from him on a regular basis. 20g + 40a, yes. The fancy stats people will tell you Foligno increases the production of everyone when paired with him. If the team is healthy, does he get the same PP time?
Yes thankfully this will be over tomorrow. Then no one will spend time discussing whether it was the right decision, or bring it up whenever something good or bad happens as evidence to prove their existing point of view.
I'd say Letestu and Richards is pretty tangible evidence..
To me, just watching him on ice and seeing how different the team plays around him is why I feel Jenner could have been named captain as well. He plays and carries himself in such a way that it comes across as he will take his teammates along with him dragging and screaming if he has to. Bob, Dubi, and Nick are probably the only other guys I see like that. I'm happy for Nick, and I voted for him to be named in the runoff between him and Dubi, but no matter who was named, it is a long way from the days of Odelein and Richards.
Also, I don't read or follow Porty so its just my opinion.
