  • We're expecting server maintenance on March 3rd starting at midnight, there may be downtime during the work.
Last night's lineup was awesome without Foligno, so even if he feels ready tomorrow I don't think it would hurt to give him the rest. If we find ourselves in game 6 when the stakes are higher, then we might be requiring his services.

I'll still feel better having him in the lineup. I'll take him over Brooks even in limited ice time. Nothing to take away from Brooks, who I think did pretty good in his first playoff game
I liked his fiestiness and willingness to get engaged. So refreshing from the years of Freddy Gauthier

the speed of brooks was such a welcome sight on the 4th line. I know this would never happen, specially since he just scored, but i would take out Thornton, move mik to the 4th line and put foligno on the 3rd line. to me thats 2 scoring lines and 2 checking lines with speed who can score

If Nick is this banged up, I'd give him game 5 off even if he could go. The Habs are trash, and we have shown we can beat them while missing key pieces of our lineup.

If by chance we can win tomorrow, that would give him a bunch of days off. Have to figure we start Round 2 on TUE to allow for the TUE, THU, SAT scenario.

Trade not looking too good for Dubas.

I've been fairly critical of dubas since he became GM especially with the sparks fiasco and the moronic contracts and etc...

But I think he has put together a solid team with "good" support pieces. I think Foligno even if not playing is a huge morale booster in the locker room to change the mindset. You don't have to look too far just look at Foligno's post game after the 1st playoff game

Honestly, we don't need Foligno against MTL so if he's not 100% I'd give him game 5 off

I'm obviously thrilled that the team won the game last night and that the series is looking to be in great shape. I understand - and agree with - not wanting to alter the Nylander-Kerfoot-Galchenyuk line. I'd still replace Brooks with Foligno in the lineup though. I'd then place Foligno on the third line for starters with Mikheyev and either of Engvall or Simmonds.

Gents you go with your best lineup every game in playoffs to win and never take anything for granted .. Keefer will be only one who knows what it is and he will do what is right by team .. no individual player can be spared .. watching on TV you get what media what you to see in a game

That fourth line struggled in our end all night to be honest.

you think more so than Thornton-Spezza-Simmonds? im obviously just going off eye test but they didnt seem to give up any chances. there were a few times they were miss matched against montreals "top" line, but again they kept the chances to the outside and looked good to me

It’s funny how much potential the 4th line has to be dominant, just if we remove Thornton lmao.

These would be dominant come the 3rd round if we make it to there:

Hyman-Matthews-Marner
Gally-Tavares-Nylander
Foligno-Kerfoot-Mikheyev
Engvall-Brooks/Nash-Spezza

Jumbo looks like he is struggling to get around da ice .. and his clapper kinda makes me LOL .. but there must be a good reason why Keefer keeps him in .. and it can't be he keeps things light

Thats a solid line up through and through.

Thornton probably isnt taken out simply from his Vet status.

you know what i just realised? Thornton is older than Sheldon Keefe lol.

I thought they were hemmed in quite a bit. Jumbo scored so it’s silenced some of us, but really he was awful last night pure play wise. Not sure the advanced stats.

If Foligno can't be effective cause he's a little banged up then I'd just let him rest the 2nd line is torching them right now so just leave it. If MTL are gonna try to focus on them, then the 1st line should get more chances. We need Foligno healthy for the bigger Fish!

He needs to be rested for as many consecutive days as possible or his back will continue to get re-aggravated. It's not the kind of injury you can just grind through. Watching him wince after every hit a couple games ago looked worse than when he was rested weeks ago.

Put him on the shelf now and hopefully close the series out in 5 so he can get an extended rest period. That way he's fresh for the rest of the run and you're not playing this "maintenance day" game in the conference finals. In the mean time, Brooks stays fresh in case he's needed again.

Whats going on with this guy? Doing the exact same light skating drills as JT today...

I was pumping his tires huge after he stood up for JT and the leadership he brings to this team.

Not trying to rush him back or dump on Dubas but definitely disappointed giving up a first for someone with a nagging injury that we will need to be a warrior for us down the stretch.

Thankfully we don't need him to put down the Scabs.

Do you think he actually directed the puck or was it just a hard pass that he couldn't handle and it bounced the right way?

I mean I'm not going to blame Dubas for him getting hurt.

But a 1st for Foligno instead of a 2nd for Hall was always a bad move. Doesn't mean we can't still win the Cup but I've never understood it.

imagine thinking Toronto could get Hall for a 2nd..

anyways on the topic, get better soon Nick

Foligno will be a warrior for us when we need him .. we don't need him again against Habs .. he served his purpose in game 1 .. he will be more valuable against Jets who are a much bigger team

Keefe can't go with the best lineup that would include JT and Foligno and that's not possible
