Icedogs lose a tough one in overtime 5 to 4 on a goal by Goyette.Lavoie tied the game with four second left in the third shooting one from the face off circle. Wysick Raddick and Michaud also scored for the Icedogs. Shots 55 to 34 for Sudbury. Next game tomorrow afternoon in North Bay.

For the second time in three days the Icedogs were shut out this time in North Bay by a 4 to 0 score . Lavoie was stopped on a penalty shot early in period three .For the first time in awhile we held the opposition to under 50 shots. Next game Thursday night when Hamilton comes to town.

Peterborough slam the Icedogs 6 to 0 tonight at the Meridian Centre firing 66 shots on net. Second time the Dogs have been shut out this season both on home ice. 4,285 tickets sold for the game but due to the weather there was some no shows. Next game tomorrow night in Sudbury.

I went to that game while I was in the area, it was my first time at an Ice Dogs game and my first OHL game in over 20 years.

I really enjoyed it, I liked the rink (reminded me a bit of the one in Moose Jaw a bit in terms of size and layout), it is certainly more comfortable than what I'm used to in Winnipeg, ha. And the crowd really showed up considering the floundering team and the lousy weather. Flores got hung out to dry with 66 shots by Peterborough though lol. Really liked Hayes for the Petes, he reminds me of some of the top end players I see in the WHL. I assume it was only his size that kept him from getting drafted?

Like I said, there was lots of fan enthusiasm, lots of families having fun. It's nice to see people enjoying themselves instead of giving in to the temptation to gripe and be sour. Parking was a bit of a challenge for someone unfamiliar with downtown St. Catharines, but other than that it was a great night out.

Petes fan here -what was with the mismatched socks?
Is it a fundraiser for something ?

We are down to the last 2 games and both of them are at home. We have not yet heard of a single prospective draft pick being entertained or wined and dined at the Meridian Centre. That can't be a good sign.
I don't want to put the Burke's on a pedestal or use them as a positive example but they would religiously invite potential draft picks to an IceDogs game and recruit them.

any thoughts on Battalion and/or Sting resting their top end players if they both gain control of this weekend's games?

Watch out for Sarnia. I can still remember the Wolves 12 win season quite vividly towards the end of the Burgess era. Can only go up from here. You really do have an excellent fan base.

Well, the two years of the draft lottery has hurt exactly ONE team...the Niagara IceDogs! We should have had the number 1 pick two years in a row. It may be good for the NHL to prevent tanking but how does it help a development league where it is important to have league parity?

With that being said, I don't think it changes our first pick which will likely be Matthew Schaefer.

I agree. I really dislike the lottery for the OHL. I feel it serves absolutely no purpose. There is a recognized cycle in major junior hockey and teams will finish out of the playoffs every 4-6 years on average. Those teams don’t need to pick first, especially when they finish with a .475 win% and luck into a 1st overall pick. Then there is the possibility of a team finishing at .275% and picking 3rd. Seems dumb to me.
