IceDogs players with COVID - it could be the other way around too. However, this is no time for a pissing contest. Above all, these are kids and young men on *both* teams - and what we're seeing now is a variant that spreads more quickly than even Delta did/does. In the end, hockey is just a game - but for the sake of protecting the health of the players involved, some hard decisions have to be made sooner rather than later - from the top leadership in the game itself, and those tasked with leading this province (Uncle Dougie, that one was meant for you....). Will it suck - heck yes! I did the last year and a half of my undergrad completely online and risked my neck to do a field placement in the community so I could graduate on time. It wasn't easy to do back then, and chances are it will be anything but easy now. My kids couldn't play sports, attend school in person and my sisters? 1 of them is a nurse, 2 more are retail workers. The crap they have to deal with - even now, is something I would wish upon nobody that participates on these boards.

Like I said before - hockey is a game. Playing it is inherently risky all on its own. As much as it pains me to say it, increasing the risks in the face of current facts is something that can't (and shouldn't) be justified; even if the Ontario government fails to act quickly, I hope the OHL does the exact opposite - at the very least a league pause until a better handle can be gotten on this new variant should be considered. People can blowtorch me if they want - I just think these lads league wide and their teams need leadership that has the collective stones to make their health and safety as *people* a priority right now. And sometimes, that involves making tough decisions that aren't always going to be liked.

Nurse myself, never was much fun, less now. My post was meant to be read as showing concern for the troops who were just in close contact with a niagara team who was unable to play tonight

Very well put, really respect your concern for players and everyone for that matter.

Niagara didn't pick up covid mysteriously on the ride from NB to Sudbury - it must have been present during the Thursday game. The Battalion was obviously in close contact during that game and then went on their own ride to Missy. One would think that the Battalion and Steelhead players should all be tested.

This season will be tough going forward...and Covid is just one of them.

What's the issue with #20 Dylan Roobroeck? He use to be a stud back in peewee when my son played against him. Still no goals in the O.

My apologies - it can get a little tough to decipher intent sometimes on message boards. One of my sisters is an ICU nurse - I worry about her wellbeing all the time with what her and her colleagues go through. Still amazes me that there are people out there who don't take the level of this threat seriously at all, or can't spare any care/empathy about this for anyone but themselves.

Did his shots actually hit the net in peewee?
He’s big and slow. He seems out of sync with the play. Keeps getting shifted up and down the lines.
23 shots on goal

I think he did hit the net but thought he was a bit slow then too. I would switch him to defence. How many 6'-7" forwards have you seen? Power forwards are 6'-4 maybe these days. It all about speed now. Just my opinion.

He just seldom seems “ahead” of the play when the ID’s have the puck.
How many slow defenceman can a last place have? Do him a favour and give him a fresh start with a new team.

Per OHL insider
Oshawa #Generals acquiring Cam Butler from the Niagara IceDogs for 2 picks.
Believe one of those picks is being used for Sirizotti.

Good trades.......basically Butler for Sirizzotti and an 11th rd pick

Butler has been disappointing since his draft - not physical enough for his size, just an average skater and a big shot but he needs time and space. Hopefully he can elevate his game with the change of scenery.

Either way he will not be in the league in 23-24 when the IceDogs hope to host the Mem Cup........Sirizzotti, a year younger, will be an OA on that team.

The 2025 2nd round pick they acquired is more valuable than the 2023 2nd round pick because it will be a trade chip in the Memorial Cup season. There will be tough times between now and then but the young players just have to keep developing.
