Its a conflict of interest, thats what I thought when I heard this last week. But don't know the league rules about these aspects. Regardless, its a terrible look for MLSE to have allowed this relationship to exist anyways. Then again, you got a former player as President, what do you really expect?

I'm sure it's all a coincidence, they probably didn't know about it and just recently discovered this after Dubas was let go.

Imagine a full scale investigation of agents!
They'd need an excavator to deal with all the dirt.

It’s no different for sports agents than it is for lawyers or real estate agents - - there’s very explicit rules for the same firm to be representing both parties.

Conflict of interest is basic, BASIC, knowledge - - the first thing you learn - - for anyone in those industries.

Did the Leafs have someone representing them from Wasserman? Otherwise, not sure how this is comparable at all.

Investigate how long he has been using Crosby's real estate agent for all I care now

Walking Matthews straight to UFA on that shit contract when Dubas had all the leverage never made sense. We were all puzzled by it, even all neutral fans and GMs across the league. I wonder if there was more to it. It never made sense for him to cave in to his demands, he was an RFA we could match any offer made. Opens up a whole new discussion.

Matthews was represented by Wasserman. Dubas was also represented by Wasserman.

Do you see any connection there Boyo? Any possibility of a conflict of interest?

No.

Different agents, same firm, I see no conflicts.

Especially since Dubas was negotiating with The Leafs, not Matthews.

Dubas hired his friend from school, which didn't break any rules.

I think worst case, the NHLPA will have to change their rules.

Lol. Sounds like somebody really wanted to make a story, notified the NHLPA, and were given a dismissive "yeah, yeah, we'll review it" answer, which they've woven into "DUBAS UNDER INVESTIGATION!". They're not even the same agents. Such a nothingburger.

I doubt anything comes of this, but I said in another thread I wouldn't be surprised if Dubas was purposely soft on negotiations with Matthews (and Marner.) It's definitely looking that way with Matthews.

I’m shocked you think this way
I'm shocked anybody could think anything else. I'm not sure how people see two unrelated agents sharing an agency, and create this conspiracy theory about some massive, multi-year collusion scheme between Matthews and Dubas. Come on.
