I dono if it's just me, but It feels a bit low.

2000 tickets sold in 11 days (feb 12 - feb 23), Is not a great sign.

But at the same time, they are only 3000 tickets away from there goal, so maybe it's good news.

But right now I expected them to have 10000 already, especially since the first 5000 sold so quickly.

Really?
Almost 200 tickets a day for a team that doesn't even exist yet seems pretty good to me.

I understand the need for so many of us Canadians to slam this whole process, but I agree with our friends from Vegas. I think the sales reported so far are positive. Although, Im still most interested in the terms data: 1-yr, 2-yr, 3-yr deposits.

honestly, I'm surprised they got this far. 7000 STHers would be a solid base anyway and put them well ahead of some other markets

Las Vegas season ticket drive

They've reached 6800 tickets in 2 weeks. Is this lower than you would have expected?

seems about right.

Back in the late 80's when Hamilton was bidding for a franchise they got to the 10,000 limit in 48 hrs..

They aren't going to have very high attendance numbers.

But casinos will buy the tickets, so they have that.

For a place with little established hockey culture relative to most NHL markets, that number's pretty good for the time involved. This isn't a place where it should be expected to have locals fill the place nightly. That will take time. They have to cultivate the culture of hockey from the ground up. If they follow the SJ model, they will put a winning team on the ice and set up grassroots efforts to make hockey more involved at the local level with junior teams and rec teams. All those things help grow the game in that area down the line. It's definitely a long-term investment and will work if ownership understands the money that they may lose to provide this startup.

And the majority owner made it clear yesterday that he doesn't see the team as a great monetary investment. He's interested in owning a team and putting a good product on the ice here in Las Vegas and he's got the money to make it happen. I'm sure he's not interested in dumping tens of millions into the team year after year with no hope for the money to stop hemorrhaging, but he's all about the product as opposed to the financials, especially in the initial years based on his own statements.

Bill Foley will be on 920 The Game (KBAD) here in Las Vegas for the entire noon Pacific hour if anyone wants to listen. Probably rehashing a lot of the same stuff, but I'm sure something new will come out in a full hour.

And if he follows through on those statements and follows, at least in part, the SJ model then the investing of the grassroots area to help the region develop hockey will be highly beneficial down the road. I've liked what I have heard from Foley thus far but obviously actions speak louder than words and we'll see if and when he gets to that phase.

I'm thinking of talking it over with my parents about putting down a deposit. They offered me a free jersey when or if Vegas gets a team :P

Yeah, I got the email as well. Really excited that the team won't be something gambling related.

Then he would be out of step with every other owner in the league. We lost two seasons over the last 20 years so that owners could guarantee a return on their investment.

The Maloofs and Foley both organized it. When a couple billionaires come up to you about something like this it's almost not volunteering, more like a business favor/gesture.

I don't think you understand the Vegas market at all, these people are involved to bring NHL hockey to Las Vegas. With very few exceptions I can't imagine it has anything to do with anything beyond that. The fact that the numbers keep growing just goes to support that.

Well yes & no.... Hartford's point is quite valid, the way things work actually. Not so much that "you scratch my back and I might scratch yours", no business reward per se' but more one of "pleasing" someone who's successful, almost like he's your "buddy" type dealeo. You back his play, support it. Form of networking really. You see it all the time in every market when a new facility opens & or a new team is being sought or lands. Sort of like the social event of the season, feeds the ego, appearances important. You should be a part of it, be seen. This dynamic exists everywhere, even in well established markets like Toronto where theres a waiting list a mile long, gotta buy a Seat License, serious $$$ for seats, and a great many who do so do so "to be seen" as much as if not more than "to watch".
