I think the Avs jersey could be a real beaut. Always wanted a Landeskog sweater.

06 was even better than 07. They were a win away from the cup finals but I think they were missing like 3 or 4 dmen for game 7.

One thing as a neutral I can say is that the mid 2000s sabres were infinitly more entertaining than the "black" Sabre days. The earlier sabre teams had the biggest star in hasek, but Ryan Miller was no slouch either, and the talent/depth is not comparable.

Now that I think about it though, I wonder if Buffalo was still wearing those black jerseys in 06. I can't recall anymore, but I definitely associate those jerseys to a different era.

Vividly remember Campbell wearing black & red when he leveled Umberger

It's been over 22.3 years so they can get over it.

Yeah, I'm not sure who owns those rights (were they transferred automatically to the Stars?) or whether the San Jose sharks even have any interest in celebrating (or profiting) from the NHL's first club in the bay area. The only thing I found was an article from a few years ago where the Sharks celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Seals before one game (several old players were in attendance and fans received a seals t-shirt).

As other posters have already mentioned, we've seen the Avs adopt Rockies-esq secondary logos, Jets 2.0 wear "their" old colours and logo (heritage jersey), and now the Wild sporting green-and-gold... so who knows?

From having poked around on it when the Canes started doing Whalers stuff, rights to defunct team IP are held by the NHL itself, not any particular team. And they do occasionally throw out gear with defunct teams- I have a modern North Stars hat bought in 2007, for example.

Gabe Landeskog going nice bucket on warm up in that Avs/Nords crossover is going to cause a permanent boner.

I'm curious if Colorado would go with the Nords logo or one of their own. Do we know if Carolina is using the Whalers logo or are they using their logo in Whalers colors?

The Blues jersey is ugly.

The Preds jersey isn't different enough from their regular.

The Blackhawks jersey is meh.

The Dallas jersey is pretty sweet!

The Wild jersey is nice.

The Jets jersey is WTF?!

I can only imagine the shitstorm that would've happened if the Coyotes used Jets 1.0 throwbacks before the Thrashers moved to Winnipeg, we saw the shitstorm of the Whalers debacle...and yet people are celebrating the Avs wearing the skin of the Nordiques and painting them in their own colors, despite no replacement team existing in Québec to soften the blow.

The way I see it, they should've saved the Nordiques stuff for games in QC itself. This comes off less as "respecting the history" and more using an iconic and beloved design for a nice cheap explosion of cash.

If this were about honoring history, Goulet's number would've stayed retired. Dallas doesn't let people use Broten's number, we don't issue out Hull or Steen's numbers. Hell, the Jets have kept the Dan Snyder Memorial Award from the Thrashers to honor their history.

I could be wrong, but was there a big deal made about the Canes using the whaler jerseys?

I only recall the bruins PBP guy getting upset about it.

Still disappointed with how boring they went with the islanders jersey. A reverse retro theme and seeing what some of the other teams did the isles jersey is underwhelming. Hopefully it looks clean though.
I 100% agree. I guess all I have to say on this matter is, remember who's their GM.
