Not sure what is the point of keeping the NHL Network on cable. It should've been sold to ESPN or Turner when the deals were negotiated either you have Turner make it what NBA TV is now or let ESPN make it what ACC/SEC Network are.NHL Network isnt a Neilsen rated network
I would be willing to bet even with reduced subscribers due to cord cutting, operations costs, and whatever MLB gets to run it, NHLN still makes a profit for the league. Plus it gives the league a place for a decent chunk of shoulder programming. Which you don’t get with ESPN even on ESPN+
Here's hoping the SCF go 7 games.

Heard on local Vancouver sports radio up here the playoffs are averaging 4 mil viewers. North of the border hockey is King. Not too sure where it ranks down south.Tough competition from MLB on FOX tonight. Wouldn't be a good look if a SCF game lost to a regular season MLB game.
Well usually MLB regular season games on FOX don't go higher than 3M so yeah it's a tough matchup since it's Dodgers v Yankees but still I expect around 3.5M to 3.7M but it can go either way it feels like with Edmonton it's a wild card so any number can happen.Tough competition from MLB on FOX tonight. might be skewed w/ the London set between the Phillies and Mets which is on now....Well usually MLB regular season games on FOX don't go higher than 3M so yeah it's a tough matchup since it's Dodgers v Yankees but still I expect around 3.5M to 3.7M but it can go either way it feels like with Edmonton it's a wild card so any number can happen.

There’s a spots show Saturday that deals with the business of sport. The host, Tom mayenknecht) said there were 4 million viewers up here. So about 4 times south of the border? What you probably heard is that Sportsnet is expecting less than 4M viewers per game in the SCF re: reporting about what they were charging for ads. Or the radio people said what you said but they were confused based off that same information.
Excluding French #'s, Canada is averaging 1.25M through the conference finals. Up 5% YoY.
U.S. is averaging 1.29M through the conference finals. Up 14% YoY.
Add the French #'s and Canada would be more but 4 million viewers per Stanley Cup Playoff game is an absurd conclusion.
Lot of Canadian #'s are posted in this thread -- including directly from Rogers/SN.

that was really the only competition for NHL tonight.. no nba, no mlb.. Just this game on ABC on a sat night. Also, by the start of the 3rd period, the game became a blowout (8-2), so that's going to help the NHL rating tonight alot, and it wasn't a blowout, thank GOD. Edm was always in the game.Tough competition from MLB on FOX tonight. Wouldn't be a good look if a SCF game lost to a regular season MLB game.
Fast nationals so it's gonna end at 3.2 or 3.3M which is 1M less than in 2022 and 500/600K higher than 2023.
Remember that last year, it was on cable as TNT got the finals. All the games on ESPN will be on the local telly, so these ratings are a bit "meh," but it was always going to be "meh" considering a Canadian team is involved. I do understand that this series probably gets a slight boost due to the McDavid/Draisaitl factor. I was hoping for around 3.6 million as the average, but Florida should be gaining many new fans with these back-to-back Final appearances, so even if it might not show in the viewership this year, it will help 3-5+ years down the line.Fast nationals so it's gonna end at 3.2 or 3.3M which is 1M less than in 2022 and 500/600K higher than 2023.
I don't think anything will be as bad as the two series that came out of the lockout concerning Oilers/Hurricanes and Ducks/Senators. As long as this series is better than those, is all we can hope for IMHO.I would imagine it would be slightly higher than the 2006 SCF between Edmonton and Carolina. Miami does not really move the needs for hockey viewership, as they are not a original 6 team, and have a small fan base. Edmonton is a small market Canadian tea,.
I hope it goes at least 6 games or this could be one of the lowest rated SCF.
Not awful but not what it could’ve been with either the Rangers or Dallas (or both) in the finals.
Not much better than Vegas anyway.Dallas would not have drawn good ratings.
Game 1 in 2006 was on cable, so it isnt a fair comparison anyway. Game 3 of that series, the first game on OTA, received 2.542 million viewersI would imagine it would be slightly higher than the 2006 SCF between Edmonton and Carolina. This is probably 5 games. I agree with you, ratings will be average to below average. I think the first two games is fine given there's a Canadian team there. Not awful but not what it could’ve been with either the Rangers or Dallas (or both) in the finals. If the series goes 7 the series average will be in the high 3 million low 4 million range which is ok but I’m not sure it will go 7 because of how weak Edmonton’s defense and goaltending is. Florida is a wagon
