NHL.TV / Center Ice / ESPN+ Discussion - Part IV [See the warning in OP]

Yeah that's some bullshit considering its an NHL sanctioned tournament
Ya it’s a joke. At the very least if you are money grubbing losers. Have a link to buy access to the games, but nothing.

NHL can’t do anything right when it comes to promoting the game.

Also it’s the same networks airing the games so it’s not like they need different access.

Not that it’s worth watching but I am pretty sure in previous years they haven’t had the all star game on nhl.tv either.

Does anyone have audio syncing issues when it comes to ESPN+. I have it all the time when I first enter the games. The video is a bit ahead of the audio, mainly because there's some pausing of audio when I enter the game while the video is still going. Is there a way to prevent that from happening? I'm on Apple TV.

For the amount of money TNT threw at a TV deal, I still think Fox would have been much better.

Fox and the NHL "just worked" back in the day and don't doubt today it would be better. Plus the theme is as iconic as NHL on Espn.

Trying to watch NHL in Hawaii.

Anyone know how to subscribe to ESPN+ in the US with a Canadian credit card… and Postal Code?

I get to the point of paying and it’s asking for a “Zip Code”. It does not allow for a Canadian Postal Code. Also, the work-around that sometimes works where you enter the numerical digits of your Canadian Postal Code followed by two zeros does not work.

Not available to Canadians, like states can’t sign up for TSN

I understand it’s not available IN Canada but if you’re IN the US and want to pay for it, it seems foolish to turn away money. It has to do with licensing rights and where their customers are allowed to stream, not who the consumer is a citizen of. Yes, I know there are VPNs that can mask your location but most of these sites can, and will, just block you if you are funnelling through a VPN.

I'm not sure if it would actually work, but have you considered the option of getting one of those prepaid debit cards to sign up?

Not available for visitors either. They now use other methods besides or in addition to VPN’s.
If you had a US Visa card, and made up an address, not sure if that would work.

ESPN+ is such a garbage product. The listings show the UMass-W.Mich game with the correct time and score. But try to watch it and all you get is “your event is starting soon” forever. How does that make any sense?

I gotta find out if I'm the only one who thinks the SN + main page interface is the biggest train wreck out there... The sliding tile format and all the rows are terrible to navigate and make no sense to me. Anybody else have that visual nails on a chalkboard reaction every time they navigate SN+?

The Headline row is oversized so you only see one game before you need to scroll over and it's full of non headline games, seems very random, even Leaf games on a Saturday night aren't always parked here. What's their formula for what goes here?

Then there's "Today on Sportsnet" which is a collection of LIVE events and upcoming ones, with headline games mixed in with all kinds of secondary stuff like random NBA games, some live at the time, some upcoming. What's their formula for what goes here?

Then there's "Live and Upcoming" which as far as I can tell is the exact same as Today on Sportsnet. What's their formula for what goes here?

Then there is "Live Channels" which makes sense to me except every row above is technically also Live Channels so why the special row?

Then you get to My Games which is fine except if all the rows above were clearer I don't think you would need this at all.

Then you get Replays which is finally an easy row to find what youre looking for, assuming your game is over.

The you get Shows which includes stuff like Jays in 30 and all the podcasts and whatnot. I pretty much only watch sporting events and not 'shows' but this one makes enough sense and good thing its near the bottom.

Anyway, it's just such a dog's breakfast and the sliding tile format sucks. Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to just have it laid out by league and in a way where I can see just about all the broadcasts in one screen without needing to scroll the slider over or scroll the screen down?

I don't want to underestimate how hard it is for web developers to design these things but my god would they ever benefit from the simpler is better train of thought. Like Prime's main page for example....
