I honestly don't know - if you have a YouTube channel/account I'd assume you might be able to with YouTube TV.

So I figured it out. You can watch ESPN+ for all out of market games, TNT website (or YouTube TV) for their national games

You cannot screen record on the latter.. going to be a major issue for content creators

Thank you for all who've contributed to this thread. It's been very helpful coming up with a streaming strategy.

I work on a computer all day, so when its game time, I want to be on the couch watching on the big screen

My game plan is espn+, express vpn, and to install a second router hooked to my frontier internet router (need to keep this, as I work from home often and can't afford any downtime). Will hook up roku to second router which will be configued with vpn, install express vpn app to roku, and be able to avoid blackouts for local games shown on espn+. Flashrouters will ship preinstalled vpn so just plug and stream without blackouts.

I don't have a local package, so plan on skipping games not on espn+. Come playoff time, will then add fubo or sling and then cancel once finals are over.

Thank you, so how do I watch the TNT/TBS games online? That’s how it was with NBC, I would have to go to NBC.com and do the stream through there when games were on NBC/NBCSN.

So basically all games will be on ESPN+, besides local and TNT/TBS?

TNT and TBS’s app and website allow you to watch live if you authenticate through your provider. Similar to NBC’s streaming

It allows you to pause and go back to points in the show.

Fellow Aussie here. As far as I've been able to determine, you should still get the exact same service this year as you got last, and still via NHL TV.

No NHL.TV in Australia this year, its through Watch ESPN: Online Live Sports, Replays, Highlights.

Details here, scroll down to ESPN App
Where to Stream

Good news is if you have foxtel then its free.

I still have my doubts if it will be a full NHL.TV style service, we always get dudded and end up with something lame like 3 games of the week or something stupid where they hold the rights but give no access.

Yes, it is interesting. My country, The Netherlands, and several others have been moved from the NHL.tv-list to the ESPN Player. This must have happened very recently and means European countries are now split over three different streaming services. I am a bit distrustful of having to use the ESPN-player, but it is not our choice.

This is the breakdown (might not be complete)

NHL.TV

Austria
Belarus
Bosnia & Herzegovina
Bulgaria
Croatia
Czech Republic
France
Germany
Gibraltar
Guernsey
Ireland
Liechtenstein
Luxemburg
Moldova
Monaco
Portugal
Serbia
Slovakia
Slovenia
Switzerland
United Kingdom

ESPN Player

Belgium
Greece
Hungary
Italy
Netherlands
Romania
San Marino
Serbia
Spain
Turkey
Vatican City

Viaplay

Denmark
Estonia
Finland
Iceland
Latvia
Lithuania
Norway
Poland
Sweden

I already notice a difference. The NHL.tv-app offers the Montreal vs Toronto pre season game tonight. Where ESPN's first game is Islanders vs Rangers on the 27th.

Apparently there is no ESPN-app available for Apple TV. The one that can be installed is only useable with a US account. We are supposed to cast from our phones. That is a massive step backwards and genuinely terrible for a modern media company. How can you not have an Apple TV-app in 2021?

Also only showing the rangers game on espn australia, nhl.tv schedule showing 9 games that day.

Surprisingly NHL.TV will attempt to charge a credit card even when you list your location as Australia, I REALLY hope this isnt a case where an ESPN account will give you one game a day and to get the rest you also need a NHL.TV account. They do mention blackouts....

I’m almost positive there is an Apple TV app and have it on my office TV at work.

Edit: Oh you’re outside of the US, that sucks.

tor - mtl , nhl tv (canada) via the SN 1 feed .

if I had the bell canada center ice pkg this game would be blacked out because they'd say its on a national t.v channel (sn 1)

During the season, games carried by ABC will be simulcast on ESPN+. At this point, it's not clear whether all games will be available later ON DEMAND on ESPN+.
Playoff games will be on ABC and ESPN networks. So it's likely that playoff games on ABC will also be on one or more of the ESPN channels.

I am currently streaming a football game and it does not really look like HD cast from my phone to my TV. Picture looks grainy. I am really starting to fear the NHL has sold fans like me out to an inferior service.

EDIT: looks like STL/MIN among others not steamable at all on ESPN+ out of market (according to link a couple posts up). Could’ve sworn NHL.TV had every single preseason game so that seems like a step back, if true

Hearing concerns from others out of North America this whole situation feels like it could get ugly quick

I think they will be. I checked to see other obscure/small schools for college football and they had the full replays. That’s a major concern for me too as I like to go back and look at when a play occurred so I’m hoping it’s there

I wonder if they are just showing an arena scoreboard feed or something they consider not of good broadcast quality?

Yeah, should be. They even had the U.S. and Canadian feeds available for replays of playoff games this year, since they already had those available through ESPN+, so no reason they couldn't do the same now. And I believe they have home and away available for MLS, too, with their package.

So far from what I've checked the MLS seems to only show the home feeds. Specifically when I watch an archived game only the home feed comes up and I can't select the other broadcast.

I don't have NHL Network but I do have ESPN+ and there is a Hockey Game going on that I can watch tonight as part of the old NHL.TV package. Shouldn't ESPN Plus be playing the Maple Leafs game right about now? Wouldn't this be a good test run to see what the new Out of Market streaming service is like?

I was watching NFL Primetime last Sunday and the app actually kicked me out while they were doing 49ers highlights. I wasn't entirely thrilled with that. I'm starting to fear the idea that I know why this service is only 69.99 for the year. I'm starting to think we're getting an inferior product, and even NHL.TV was somewhat inferior in certain ways to Gamecenter Live.

Are there any Canadians who will be out of the country and ordering nhl.tv in another country for $99USD VS nhllive for $179CAD?

NHL Network is a national network. A game on NHL Network is not considered “out of market.” NHL Network games will not be included on ESPN+ (they were previously not included on NHL.tv except for some pandemic related give backs).

ESPN+ is not picking up every pre-season game as not all the feeds are available. It is streaming multiple pre season games a night starting tomorrow though.

NHL.tv has never aired all pre-season games as all pre-season game aren’t broadcast. A few teams in the past have streamed the scoreboard feed of games, but those were not apart of NHL.tv

NHL Network games were on NHL.TV for the last two years.

True. But the Leafs vs Habs game shows as archived on NHL.tv but is simply not available on ESPN Player. I was really looking forward to watching my teams first match of the new season. It has been a long, in our case very long, summer. I feel robbed already.

fwiw , I have the nhltv canadian version and while the stl-min game was listed in the menu there ended up being no feeds available .Only the habs-leaf game was available with the sn1 feed and a french channel feed (RDS ? ) that I was blacked out from .
