Thanks all. Bought the NHL.TV package this morning. Wasn't charged the handling fee. Came to 99.99USD total.

Only one game on the sched for tonight and one for tomorrow, but they did say no preseason games were included this year. Will check out the SJ game in about 5 hrs to see how well it works.

The Computer interface does look cleaner than in the past.

So when will the stand alone tv app be available? It used to be so convenient with an Android TV. Any idea if I could still stream the games through the old NHL.tv app?

I was wondering if there were other ESPN+ subscribers based in the U.S. out there but that like to follow a Canadian team?

Based on looking at the ESPN+ website, I see very few games being streamed by ESPN+.

I looked at 5 dates in October and compared the games being televised by ESPN+ to the NHL schedule. Only four (4) of fifty seven (57) NHL games were being streamed according to the ESPN+ website. Even worse, they didn't provide any games for the team (Eastern Canadian team) that I follow.

This seems to be very different than last year. Last year the vast of majority of the games were provided with only a small number of games being blacked out.

Has anybody else noticed this? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Just signed up. The desktop variant looks clean, let's hope the app has good spoilerfree functions.

Concerning the blackouts in Europe/Germany/Austria, the help article states this:
"For international customers of NHL.TV, blackout restrictions may apply to games that appear on an NHL partner network in your viewing area based on the IP address from which you are accessing the service. In the 2022-23 season, games broadcast by SKY in Austria and Germany will be blacked out live in NHL.TV. The on-demand replay will be made available shortly upon completion of the live broadcast"

Do I understand this correctly: the live feed of SKY games get blacked out (as expected), but the on-demand version of the games get made available quickly after completion even when the game got broadcasted originally on SKY?

That would make a big difference, since you had to wait 48 hours to watch those on-demand games in the last year...
I never really understood the 48 hours thing. If game like that started at 2AM on the 7th, I'd be able to watch the replay on the 8th. Unless I misunderstood it somehow.

Of course, a VPN was always a way around that.

The Android tv app doesn’t seem to be available 🤨

I don’t think streaming via the original NHL app is going to work - says feed unavailable for todays game.

If they truly dropped Apple TV support and don’t release Android TV app fast I’m going to be annoyed. I have zero interest watching on my PC or a tablet.

How did you pay? I’m wondering if the handling fee is for PayPal only.

I paid by credit card.

My NHL android apps from last year aren't working. I assume they've realeased an updated app or version. SJS game starts at 2PM EST, so trying to figure it out.

There should be a brand new app called NHL.TV

There’s one for iOS already. Can’t check on Android.

Just downloaded from the Android store and looks like the one I already had. Who is the developer? My old app doesn't even recognize my credentials.

I've got the SJS-NSH game playing on my laptop at least.

EDIT: Can confirm there is a new Android app available in the play store. The one from Bamtech no longer works. The developer of the new one is NHL. Region locked.

Found the working one in the Play Store for Android. Anyone that have seen an Android TV version?

Oh wow that sucks big time. Anyone know if the app for Android tv still under development or does the new developer not intend to make one at all? The previous tv app developed by bamtech was awesome in terms of quality and convenience. It's definitely a shame if connecting through a laptop or Chromecast becomes the only way to watch games on TV.

Can't imagine why they'd downgrade the service

The nhl.tv site says it will be supported on android tv, so i would assume there will be an app coming out, but I have yet to find one compatible with my nvidia shield. I have the new app working on my android phone with option to cast to the shield, but that doesn't seem to be working.

Can anyone confirm if there is a new working app for Amazon Fire TV or apple?

Someone above already said they downloaded the new app from the iOS store and I found the new android app in the play store. It's region locked so you won't find it in the US/Canada play store. Will need to find/side load and hopefully it works.
Centre Ice free preview starts today for 1 week.
Instead of waiting until the season officially starts in North America, they start days before so we only get 3-4 days.

I am in Italy right now where NHLTV is not available. Tried watching the Sharks-Predators game as an on-demand stream this morning and as expected with an Italian IP it didn't work at all. Using a German IP I was able to log in normally but couldn't watch the game. Blacked out in Germany, I would assume. That is the next morning after the game took place, so probably about 10 hours after the game started. Then I used a Swiss IP and was able to watch the game without a problem. So it looks like everything stayed the same from last season.

There was an "update" for Fire TV but I haven't noticed any differences and it still says "Feed Unavailable" for all the games.

I found the app on my Android phone but I could not locate the same app on my Android TV. The only NHL app on TV is the one developed by Bamtech which now appears to be defunct since it doesn't offer any streams at all. Hope a TV version of the new app is still under development.

By the way, I discovered another major problem while testing the new version of NHL.TV by watching the Sharks vs Predators game. The intermission shows are not shown anymore!!! While I'm glad NHL.TV hasn't shut down I'm a tad bit disappointed with how the new version has panned out so far.

Although the Android app is only available for tablets and smartphones, it might still work on the Nvidia shield and other Android TV units. There are several Android apps in which are only “approved” to be usable with tablets and smartphones, but indeed do work perfectly on Nvidia shield as well. Nvidia has received many complaints from frustrated users regarding this issue. The users themselves have solved the problem by downloading the prefered app (an app in which are compatible with a “smartphones or tablets only”) and then convert it to an APK, then they have installed the app on the Nvidia shield.

It would be cool to give it a shot (convert to APK). Like stated, many Android apps still work on Shield even tho "it wasnt approved for that unit".

Thanks and I can confirm this, the app gives me the following error message (see below, I'm in Germany).

Seriously, f**ck you NHL. I'm buying a product where no one exactly knows how the process and length of blackouts works before they experience this... The help article in the FAQ about blackouts is very unclear - it even gives you the impression that the blackouts only apply for the live broadcast - not for on-demand games...

Shame that you HAVE to use a VPN for a quite expensive product. Seriously, the NHL is a bush league.

Which VPN do you use?

So can anyone clarify? Is there any way to watch ALL NHL games in Australia? Like I used to on Game Centre live and NHL TV? I believe I can get Kayo or ESPN+ but doesn’t that just allow me to watch 2-3 games a week rather than all? I’m pretty disappointed if I can’t. Please help, anyone!
