I checked out a few games tonight though I didn’t watch long but much much better quality tonight and glitch free .
yeah I watched Dallas for a period and it seemed alright . The teams that have Bally's sports network seem to have good quality streams so far . MSG and MSG + are a work in progress .

I (UK) also got the renewal email last night. I'm also very sceptical that the new and improved video player will be anything of the sort. There's also a list of eligible countries here: https://nhl-support.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/5584014279324-NHL-TV

It lists Scotland, England and "South Wales" (apparently a thing) alongside United Kingdom, but not Northern Ireland or Wales. It also lists "Zaire", which was renamed as the Democratic Republic the Congo 25 years ago.

Based on past experience, if you were able to make your viewing device appear as if it was based in one of those countries, you would get the full NHL TV package. At least auto-renewal is off this season, we'll be able to tell if this is still the case.

Such as step backwards. Now (here in New Zealand) I'll have to go with Sky/ESPN. No feed options, not to mention 3x the cost. Fqn rubbish.

I have been checking out SN Now (haven’t subscribed yet but they had some free games) and there hasn’t been any issues. Picture has been great, no buffering and you can restart a game that has already started without seeing the score. I have been using Fire Stick as well as Xbox One. Maybe different platforms have issues but I haven’t experienced them with my stuff.

Are we sure Boris isn't running it in his new job?

Unfortunately it’s been a while since I’ve done this. What’s the go for watching NHL in Australia? NHL TV? Help a pal out!

I got the same email. "a newly refreshed video player" gives me a slim hope that the player will automatically skip commercial breaks when watching a non-live game. I know it's possible, because the TSN Games on Demand player has been doing it for years.
Or if that is still too much to ask for then at least add "skip 2 minutes" button on the toolbar which would be a bit more convenient than the constant scrolling.

Well, I bit the bullet and subscribed with my discount code. Watched my first game with it for the Oilers/Jets game a couple nights ago (TSN Jets feed - no Oilers feed available). A few things to comment on:

1. I was streaming from the SN Now app on my iPhone 11Pro to an old Apple TV. No Apple TV app to be found (not surprised, as the NHL app was also smoked a couple years ago). No app available for my newish LG OLED smart TV, or Shield box.

2. The SN app shows a "Restart Game" option, but took me to live play. Game was almost to the 1st intermission when I started the stream. I was able to slide the time button do-dad back though.

3. The app crashed 2x on me while trying to "15 second skip" through commercials. Upon reloading the game, it took me to live play again. VERY FRUSTRATING. I'll connect the laptop next time and see it is any better than the phone app.

4. The stream itself was good quality, no complaints. No buffering, etc.

I gave up after the 2nd crash and went to the Oilers website, where the game was free streamed. This was a scoreboard feed with Oilers play by play, so not the best. But it did not crash the whole time.

If SN had better app options and works the bugs out, this product will be decent enough for my needs. It sucks to not have the ability for 2 streams from different devices, as I used that occasionally last year. One game on TV, and one game on the laptop.

Did ESPN+ cut way back on their promised preseason games? In this announcement, there seems to be way more games than what they're actually airing.

One example today: Pens vs. Wings...not on tonight's schedule.

Haven't received this mail although I'm in Germany as well... Did you have automatic renewal set to on? Maybe this could be the difference maker?
Yes I had auto renewal for several years now

Got that one as well.

Let's hope they don't go crazy on the price.
Well it was pretty cheap last year with sky having the rights.. And literally every second game in the playoffs blacked out

Pretty sure NHL.TV no longer exists. ESPN+ is the US option.
Yeah, was discussed the last pages back already. But for people in Europe the NHL stated that NHL.TV will still be an option.

I very much agree: VERY strange and incompetent by the management and media team of this league. As I said, it makes them look like a bush league. Something like this wouldn't happen to the NFL...

How are we just over a week away and NHL.TV still hasn't released this years subscription? Incompetence at its finest!
They must be scrambling to get their new standalone app out of the door. Hopefully it's usable by the time the season starts :)

They desperately need to add goal markers to their streams. If I start watching a game halfway through I shouldn't have to click around randomly to find the goals that have already been scored
And hell that's on a computer, if you're on the PS4 app it would be 100x harder

No, they absolutely should not. It's bad enough that those of us outside of NA can't watch the games live, but all the spoilers they already add. Why is there even a time bar? As the third period winds down I can see by the time bar whether or not the game is going to go into OT in the waning seconds. I want to be surprised. It's terribly designed for those who can't watch live. If they do add something like that, they need to have a way to toggle everything off for those who hate spoilers.

100% agree. I have this same issue.

For anyone who said they managed to get a refund to SN now premium while in season, how did you do so and how much did you get back? Were you on an annual plan or monthly?

Spoke with SN this morning. They don't seem very knowledgeable over there. But they told me that there is only a very short refund period if buying the yearly and after that no refunds. I would have liked to try it for a month, but want to take adv of the early-bird pricing which won't be around after next week.

They also said that if I got SN now, I would have access to NHL live. This is how much knowledge they have. UGH. Who can we report this garbage company to in Canada?

On NHL live you could always turn the goal markers off. I dont think the period markers went away but it would be very easy to solve that problem. No reason to ditch useful functionality. They can serve both needs.

I'd like to know the answer for this as well. It really seems they've kicked Australians to curb here and don't give a crap at all out making things easier and expanding the audience. From what I'm understanding they've gone backward 10-15 years.

As a Canadian living here, I'm very disappointed. I guess Kayo is the best option? with 2-3 games a week only? Talking with family and friends in Canada, they are also none too pleased with the current status Quo.

I'd love to know what AU/NZ people are doing for their hockey fix.

I just got sportsnet now and feel ripped off, cant even watch the one game, and most of the games coming up say unavailable.....must be a alternative?
