on the sn now app nhl section does anyone else notice the nhl teams are in just some random order when scrolling across the bottom to search for the one you want . I probably wouldnt complain if the isles were among the first few clicks but they are waaay over .

I'm pumped up to see how the app performs on those 10+ game days .

How is it possible that, less than month before the season starts, there is no price information for NHL.TV?

I'm living in Germany and I'm confused about how I can watch games on demand in the coming season...

The site only gives you the message "Information about NHL.TV for the 2022-23 season will be available soon" - it's like that for WEEKS now

BTW, blackouts were horrible when the regular season was underway, especially for Oilers games - thanks to the cooperation with Sky. I really hope that this will better now.

I find its always kind of a last minute thing to find out details since covid times .

why would you be blacked out of anything in Germany ?

Do you recall how long this situation lasted in the past seasons?

In Germany/Europe "Sky" (Sky Deutschland - Wikipedia) is a very big pay TV broadcaster where you can also watch a lot of different sports. The 2021-22 season was the first one where Sky got the German TV rights and therefore a lot of games with german participation (especially Oilers now because of Draisaitl) were exclusivly broadcasted over Sky.

In the previous five to ten years it was amazing to be a German fan because NONE of the games were blackouted. Now it's a very different story...

Great that the NHL seems to actively ruin the fan experience with awful media rights, just as in the US/Canada

A year ago, NHL.tv announced their pricing at least a month prior to (delayed) season start, if I remember correctly. Right about this time a year ago.

I was pleasantly surprised by the low price last year, relatively speaking (compared to previous seasons).

Now that it takes them so much time to announce the new pricing, I'm afraid it's not going to be a pleasant surprise this time around. We might all get horrified by a price hike. It's fashionable these days.

Plus, us Europeans need to pay 20% extra taxes (VAT) on NHL.tv's pricing.

Plus, the value of the euro has plunged considerably, so that it's weaker than the dollar now.

(Too bad America has a new president. The previous one was superb in ensuring the dollar would keep hitting all-time lows, which also made NHL.tv cheaper for us in Europe. Now it's the exact reverse.)

If the new NHL.tv pricing turns out to be shocking, as we have every reason to fear, I might cancel my NHL.tv subscription after many seasons.

(As to blackouts, we used to get lots of them in my country, for reasons similar to Sky and Germany these days, but we've been a blackout-free zone for a good number of seasons now. If blackouts return in any shape or form, I would probably cancel my NHL.tv subscription instantly, regardless of the price.)

I still can’t figure out how International viewers get blackouts.
It's simply a contract/rights thing. Sky or any other big (Pay TV) network buys rights for specific games directly from the NHL. Those are blackouted live AND for 48 hours after. I don't know if that was always the case, but especially the last limitation is awful. Why watch games that are over 2 days old when you have a tightly packed schedule like in the NHL? When you can't even watch games On Demand AFTER it already ended, it makes a streaming platform utterly useless.

Are you able to buy SKY network and have nhllive on the side ?

toronto fans in leaf market that only have sportsnet app need to subscribe to TSN to receive those handful of games TSN has rights to so things suck a little bit for everyone

Does ESPN+ allow us to start games from the beginning yet? I remember they didn’t have this functionality last year and am wondering whether we might see it in time for this season.

Yes! I just got a message a week or two back when opening the app on my Roku that if you hit the asterisk button on your remote, it'll give you the option to start from the beginning. You can also hide scores now, though somehow I already had that setting in place though I know some others didn't.

And I've noticed that they now allow you to continue watching replays from where you left off on different devices, and that "Continue Watching" section shows up near the top of your front page on the app.

Slowly but surely they're improving this thing.

It's like that for all teams. Need to have a local network for broadcasts of home team. MLB does as well.

That would be pretty expensive since Sky costs at least 15-20€ per month plus the still unknown cost of NHL.TV... Dunno, I canceled my subscription last season directly after I realized that the blackout thing was a very common thing. For some reason the playoff games were not exclusives - I reactivated my account up until the final Playoff game.

I just hope the rights situation get's better this season and evaluate my options when the season started. Thanks though!

exactly , and theres varying degrees of good/bad situations in between . when I had satt tv through Bell I'd get the leafs and sens games as my regionals because I'm in northern ontario .

Still no news about the pricing of NHL.TV. For my liking, this is pretty unprofessional for such a big league. Is the market/revenue on this plattform so small that the NHL doesn't care?!

I was wondering what other Canadians have to pay for NHL Center Ice. With Bell Sat TV it's $236.17 CDN with HST. Thanks
Basically same price for Bell fibe. For other people’s info, Bell breaks the payment into 4 monthly payments.
$10 discount for early signup,

Rogers is more, but you get other sports. Not sure how much more.

technically it should be 179 through nhllive but thats been absorbed by sportsnet app so the new price is 249 + taxes but that includes sportsnet programming like Jays etc.etc.

because of the cancellation of nhl live we were offered sportsnet now premium for the price of what we paid for nhl live last season which was 179 .

so , this year 179 but likely 249 next year (but with jays and other sportsnet programming)

ESPN + got an update where you can start a live game from the beginning. That's a step in the right direction. I wish they had better filters on the apple TV app, as well as a better way to find archive games. Still, it's slightly better than last year and I still appreciate multi-cast.
