First of all, Ullmark has a NMC and good for him for having it. And I harbour no ill-will at all towards him for invoking it. Good on him for doing so. But I hate this argument. These guys are highly-paid professionals. If they can’t move across the country for 3 months to play in the Stanley Cup playoffs for crissakes then they should just retire and stay home with the wife and kids. Again, I have zero issue with Ullmark here, it’s just that argument/excuse that I despise. Really? You can’t be away from the wife and kids for 3 months? Seriously? To play in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and perhaps win a Stanley Cup? Also, I don’t even know if that’s the reason for Ullmark. Nor care. It’s the argument that I have a problem with.

Edit: plus he probably wants to win it here with Swayman and good on him for that too. I’m glad he invoked his nmc, if he in fact even did.
Fo you have young kids? I used be away from my kids for weeks at time. Hated every second off it. I got a lesser paying job so i could be st home.

I’m working but how can Vegas possibly afford hertl?? Both the trade and the future $$
He came over retained, they are likely discarding Chandler Stephenson in the offseason, they will just ltir whoever they need whenever to make money work, gms will bend over backwards to the detriment of their employers to help them out. It’s incredibly lucky and strange.

How can you be so sure they won't continue to rotate even in the playoffs? Just because it's not done? Rotating goalies all season is uncommon and that has worked. Maybe they won't try to fix what isn't broken. Or at least until they have to.
Didn't say they wouldn't, I'm saying the don't have to. Swayman has proven he can be the starter, having Ullmark at this point is redundant. 5 million dollars would have been much better spent up front where we really need the help. Swayman has proven he can handle the net.

It’s the principle that bothers me. They’re a professional hockey players. It comes with the territory. Until they get NTCs and they can veto it. Again, nothing against Ullmark, good on him. It’s the concept that bothers me - that a professional hockey player might not be able to cope with getting traded across the country for 3 months (and they should hope it would be 3 months because then they’d be in the SCF).

As I said, it’s his prerogative if he wishes to invoke the NTC and veto.

No ill will on my end. But some in the fanbase will kill him for it. First soft goal he allows, the argument will be “We could have had X, Y, and Z instead.”

Again, it’s up to each player to do what’s right for them. But would you rather go and be “the guy” for the Kings or potentially sit in the playoffs?

PLD is a dog and not the good kind. Plays when he feels like it. Brain dead on the ice for most of the time. He forced his way out of two teams. LA gave him the bag for 8 years and they are already trying to get out from under him before the end of Year 1. That should tell you something.
You said it, brother. He's been a dog on 3 teams. He has 14 G and 14 A and is -18. If that's not playing when you feel like it, I don't know what is.

He earns $8.5 million a year, in the first year of an 8-year contract. It's one of the worst contracts in the league.

If Sweeney traded for him, he should be fired and so should Cam.

If we trade with LA, I would try to get Danault and Trevor Moore. Yes, we'd have to add, but would be a good trade for us.

And Ullmark has every right to veto the trade, just as Krug did earlier in the season, b/c he didn't want to go to Philly. If you don't like the terms of the contract, then don't sign the player to the contract. Maybe he will agree to a trade in the summer. Obviously, LA was one of the 16 teams on his no-trade list.

Yet again, I have zero problem with Ullmark vetoing this potential trade. Zero. If he wants to stay in Boston and try to win the Cup with Swayman then good on him. Go Ullmark!

My problem is with the argument/claim/suggestion that a hockey player getting traded across the country (not Ullmark, any player X) at the trade deadline for a maximum of 3 months constitutes some sort of existential crisis for them. It doesn’t. They’ll survive. It’s part of the business.

But I love Ullmark and glad he’s still here!

So the Bruins today extended Wotherspoon, signed Abate and dealt for Maroon and Peeke. I will say they got a hell of a lot tougher and it will be interesting how it plays out down the road

Peeke was a guy they obviously liked and this organization is King Midas with defensemen so there could be a poor mans Kevan Miller in there. Maroon will instill a more aggressive attitude I'm sure even if it's in street clothes.

As I said, it’s his prerogative if he wishes to invoke the NTC and veto.

He prob has no intention of moving in season. If they find a team that will extend him in the summer I am sure he would go.

But its not 3 months. Its the remainder of this season, plus next season as well. Ullmark still has another year left on his deal.
