They could of used a center who can win face-offs and kill penalties.

With Forbort maybe needing two surgeries and Zboril dealt to CBJ, suddenly their LD group when healthy is Lindholm, Gryz, Wotherspoon, and Lohrei but it drops way off after that. If two LD get hurt in the playoffs your probably then asking a right-shot guy to shift over.

Hey we shouldn't be allowed to do it either.

This wasn't the intent of the LTIR exception. They had to make big revisions to AAV and contract lengths after Kovalchuk as it violated the spirit of the rule.

This does too.

Not beating on Vegas for doing it. Beating on the rule for allowing the loopholes.
This definitely needs to be addressed.
The whole point of the Cap is so that smaller markets can compete with the bigger market teams. If teams with bigger budgets can use LTIR to spend 20M more then smaller market teams then what is the point?

Bummer.

Trade deadline is the most exciting time of the year for me (apart from the playoffs, of course) and I tried to reign in my expectations but I still had a bit of hope something could happen.

Alas...

I'm dissapointed they couldn't get some help up front for Ullmark. Swayman has clearly taken over the net and is a true #1 starter. We would have been fine leaning on him the rest of the way. Trading Ullmark for a centre made so much sense. Instead we have a 5 million dollar backup who will ride the bench in the playoffs while im sure our forward group struggles to score.

But they hug after a win

They’re going with the “center by committee” approach
3rd year trying it, maybe different results.

Maybe if Sway's agent came to terms with his contract they would've been more comfortable to trade Ullmark?
Further: I'm really sick of hearing Swayman whine about the arbitration process that he went thru last summer. If you don't want to got thru it again then sign sooner. IMO he's dragging this process out for his next contract.
If he doesn't come to terms in a fair deal, maybe he'll be the one that they trade this summer.

I know you like him but don’t get too sold on Boqvist. Let’s see how he handles the roughness of the playoffs. Noticed he shied away more last night when the hitting picked up against the Leafs.
Jesper is the man now. Rally around him no choice. I'm pissed right now and I love Donny. Maybe Donny thinking Frederic can play some C too. I cant understand.

Would be the ultimate irony if they were to end up riding Ullmark to a Cup.

Not sure how this impacts his relationship with the club as well as the dynamic in the room.

Part of me agrees with Felger. Despite the right to veto, you don’t want me? Fine. I’ll go start elsewhere and make you regret it.

But at the end of the day, they granted the NTC and it’s the player’s prerogative as to whether or not they waive it.

This is the team Don. No more help is coming. Playoff should help weed out who should stick around after this season and who should be on their merry way
Agreed. While I’m disappointed that we didn’t land a fish we wanted, we also didn’t do anything to upset the vibe in the overachieving dressing room. This means all pending UFAs and bargain bin players are on show me contracts. Maybe that will help.
