Chad D said that he heard there was nothing there, too.

He seemed to think that Jokiharju for a 4th is about all that he expects to happen today with Zucker a 60% chance of staying beyond the deadline. The injury and the Sabres hoping to extend him are both factors.
Just to be a little more clearer, He said his source on JJP said... Rangers ? No, take that for whatever that means... and Chad followed up with...not before the deadline. Implying there could be other possibilities, in the off-season ?

I think the story was either a plant that they "tried something big" (Adams has likely seen his popularity poll in the Athletic) or to try to get another team interested in JJP to finish another deal (Vancouver perhaps ?).

Here is Kaplan's tweet late last night on it as well reiterating what Chad said.

A big one (not us) Brock Nelson to the Avs

What’s funnier? A quarter season of Brock Nelson returning so much more than Reinhart? Or these being the deadline prices and the last place team in desperate need of radical roster changes sitting it out because they’d have to make another move to turn futures into the player instead of getting players directly?

They can't turn their own futures into players.. what makes you think they are going to turn others futures into players

Can and don’t are two different things.

They got two roster players this offseason moving a pick and a prospect.

This GM is so bad at doing anything he’s going to sit out a seller’s bonanza. In last place. In year five.

My take on not trading for futures is that Adams will fail to make player for player trades in the offseason too and we’ll run back the same last place team again.

So take the overpay…and be forced to change it

If they sign Zucker...I could see Peterka going for someone cheaper. Getting too close to that internal cap.

I usually take Trade Deadline Day off ... not this year...

Expect boring day for Sabres....or if not ... what transpires won't be good.

One of the big 3 days of the year for every Sabres fan (left).

TDL
Lottery
Draft
If Charlie Brown was a Sabres fan, TDL day would be a combo of the Christmas Special without the redeeming ending (story ends with the disappointing tree and the cast exits without singing joyfully) and a more pathetic Halloween Special (where all the characters are dressed in NHL sweater costumes receiving candy, and Charlie Brown in his Sabres sweater receives the rocks).

I'm off the Adams train but we both know that you know the market that offseason for someone in Reinhart's contract situation the returns were vastly different. Believe Buchnevich got significantly less than what Reinhart eventually returned and it cornered us.

FWIW, Rangers board consensus is that Staple isn't connected to the Rangers at all. Islanders yes, Rangers no.
Bobby Mac said that Cozens is much more likely to move than Peterka. Nothing beyond that.

TSN talking about players and bring up Bobby McMann... and I'm remembering him coming to Sabres Dev camp as a freshman.

So my day started with finding a nail in my passengers' side front tire and needing gas... which is marked up to the highest it has been all week. Spilled my coffee, my daughter's dog is sick, and my step-daughter may have pink eye.

And all of that is less annoying than what I expect out of this team today.

Prediction is that we will fail to make a big move today, the consensus will be that it is more of a draft/offseason move. And then nothing will happen then either because this organization never does anything remotely spicy or fun. We have been waiting for them to make a big move for like 3 years now and Kevyn just never pulls the trigger.

Personally I would be moving Cozens/Byram/Quinn for whatever you can get before their value totally tanks.

This is very much the "I got a rock" day.
