Well, Gary Mason claims that was the offer. I don't think McKenzie ever did. I got the impression he was giving a comparison of the asking price.

I'm not sure Gary Mason knows his ******* from his elbow when it comes to hockey and I know McKenzie does like to speak in "examples"...but regardless, my assessment (and criticism) of Gillis didn't just appear today, to me he's spent his all his positive currency he's built up earlier on in his tenure and it's time to find a new vision for this team.

Nino, Moulson, 2015 first, 2015 second in exchange for Collberg, Clutterbuck, 2nd round pick, and 3rd round pick.

LOL. How does Snow still have a job? :shakehead

I don't understand the hate the canucks are getting for failing apparently at the trade deadline. They unloaded luongos contract for a cheaper younger goalie with high potential and a decent player who has talent but needed a change of scenery. Got rid of the goalie distractions too. Didn't trade Kesler who in my opinion is in a class by himself. Plus his contract is good.

You don't have the downfall of long term emotional connections even though you technically are closer to one of them then any of us

Different people are pissed about a multitude of things & its showing right now. I think/hope with a little time things will settle down & people will come back to reality.... though with this fan base I sometimes wonder.

The package we can get from a Kesler deal will help this team in the long run but to be honest I'm glad he's not gone, at least we'll have someone on this team who give it their all & can put the puck in the back of the net & will make these last games somewhat entertaining .... besides Higgy of course ;)

So this calendar year snow has managed to trade Nino, Moulson, 2015 first, 2015 second in exchange for Collberg, Clutterbuck, 2nd round pick, and 3rd round pick.

Wow, I knew it was bad but wow that is just brutal. Poor Islanders lol.

Even worse when you consider those are 2015 picks Snow gave away. These are the type of moves that set franchises back for years.

It was just a complete cluster****. Niederreiter was drafted 5th overall and is about to outproduce Clutterbuck in his first full season in the league. Clutterbuck, meanwhile, is a 4th liner — as many here predicted (including myself). If they finish bottom 10 next season then that's him flushing two blue chip prospects down the drain plus a 30 goal scorer who has chemistry with their #1C.

And I like their prospects too so it's painful to watch this.

We'll be fine, it was definitely a buyers trade deadline. All the big names brought back garbage for the most part. I'll be happy as long as we don't end up trading Kes in the off-season for Sutter + Despres + 1 + 3rd cuz that is just brutal.

First time poster here in the Canucks forum. I have to say that if I was a Canucks fan I would be disappointed with Gillis. If the Pens offered Olli Maatta for Kesler and Gillis turned that deal down, you guys should be really upset.

Because we didn't get any shiny new toys and are not winning. People love the mystery box aspect, hence the obsession with young prospects and especially picks. For many, a big trade was all to look forward to because of how awful things have been lately. It didn't happen, thus Gillis is a failure. Personally, I agree with you.
Kesler is my favorite Canuck, but the fact is he was on the market at deadline day and didn't return one respectable offer, which quite honestly is shocking and something I'm trying to rationalize. Was it the NTC? Gillis' or other GM's incompetence? Us Canuck fans overvaluing Kesler?

Like I said, I love Kesler and I want the Canucks to win, but either Kesler wants out, or Gillis recognizes it's time to rebuild. Our absolute best trade chip was on the table and didn't get it done. Personally that's what's disturbing to me.

In that case there is nothing to be upset about then.
Since that offer wasn't there.

Doubt that happened and doubt we'll ever know for sure what was actually offered.

Did Jay Feaster actually just criticize Mike Gillis on TSN for "not going all in on a rebuild".

Are you kidding me?

So the entirety of your post is based upon a what if? One the seems high unlikely too especially considering the rumored offers.

How would you like it if I went on the Leafs board and trashed Nonis for not accepting a Nyquist for Bolland offer?

Hopefully your last time too, Pens offered crap for Kesler.
