Suter is obviously not the player he once was anymore but I imagine he'd be a much better option on the 3rd pairing for a league minimum money than anybody Caps currently have.

I imagine Parise will also have no issues finding job considering his style of play he can be utilized up and down the lineup

Disagree. Tom Wilson is hated for legal and illegal plays, and when illegal he is punished not lauded. In fact the NHL during some suspensions have stated intent over actual action per the rule book.

Tampa blatantly went against the intent of the rules. Do you honestly believe these players magically got well at the right time? Kempny was on LTIR because he was hurt and not coming back. That was the intent. Not hiding players so you can have an advantage. Either the NHL needs to address it or we all need to do it because 18 extra mil is a huge advantage.

Do you have a problem with the rehab timeline for Kucherov's injury? Can you pinpoint the exact time he should have gotten healthy, and then do the same for every single injury any team has going forward, in the interest of fairness? He could have come back with a few weeks left in the season and they'd have been cap compliant as well. Also, Kempny was put on the taxi squad, so how do you know his recovery timeline wasn't budged to make us cap compliant?

Wilson gets universally lauded here for all his physical play, legal or not, because it's seen as the Caps standing up for themselves or whatever. Even when it results in him having to play like a ballerina in the playoffs because he's one check away from getting Kadri'd by the league after wasting all his good will on bottom teams at the tail end of the regular season

You know caps can do "bad" things and other organizations can do "good" things right?

Flipping my sentence doesn't really say anything. Are you claiming massive cap circumvention is good?

The league should require at least 10 RS games along with cap compliance in order to play in the postseason. Tom Wilson is not a reason to dismiss legit concerns about cap circumvention that leads to championships.

If we go by what's "good" the NHL needs to have Montreal and Toronto face off every SCF, since that would bring the most views and make the most people happy. Unless everyone has their own definition of "good" of course.

Sure, they can make that rule, though would be interesting to see if players nuke themselves rushing back from injury. I know Tampa would have been compliant with Kucherov back for a few RS games though probably not 10.

In the meanwhile the only ownership groups that had a problem with this scenario until 5 days ago and voted accordingly were Tampa and St. Louis

None of the owners were ok with Tampa having such an advantage. They were ok with the way the rule was made to help with COVID issues. Did they grasp how it could be abused? Did they assume all would go by the intent? Who knows.

the cap was built to support parity and create an even playing field. That didn’t happen this year. End of story

It's almost as though some people don't understand what "exploiting loopholes" is-- as opposed to simply "following the rules"-- and why loopholes are eventually closed.

If you're knowingly doing something that will probably be banned or amended at the next opportunity, you're not just following the rules you're exploiting a loophole. You're gaming the system in ways that others are not, usually because others KNOW it's wrong and are not assholes looking for unforseen shortcuts that would never have existed but for slightly better rules planning/wording (and the anticipation that someone would dare to be such an asshole).

This is a misconception. The salary cap was implemented to ensure the owners had cost certainty. The supposed parity was a side effect that they used to sell it to fans.

LOL ...a "misconception"? Based on what? Some insider info you have from secret owners meetings you were invited to because you police message boards for trivial details?

Do you even remember those days? There was a lot of talk about improving the smaller markets so bigger names could play there, and more teams would be able to compete not just for Cups but for top free agents, which helps the overall revenue sharing model and grows the entire market base. But ultimately it doesn't even matter whether cost certainty or parity was the main goal...they were still part of the plan. Otherwise they'd have just implemented a luxury tax.

Oh right, you can't read my posts. Or CCRs. Or Ridley Simon's. Because that would be painful and would interfere with your pathological fact-checking.

Says a fan of the team that bought Brooks Orpik out and signed him immediately saving 4.5M in cap space for the entire season lol. You'd think you shoud stay quiet about loopholes but nah, diving head first into your own trap lol. Good for them though that they're saving the cap by having players of Kucherov's caliber stepping in for the playoffs and not signing garbage like Panik,Hagelin and Jensen wasting everything they just saved lol.

Oh look, here's someone who doesn't understand the difference between cap navigation via contract law and trade rules, vs. circumvention via abuse of injury/illness clauses.

Colorado bought out Orpik, not the Caps, in order to facilitate the trade for Grubauer, and the Capitals did nothing wrong.

NHL clears Capitals on trading, signing Orpik

But hey, the Kucherov worship has to continue so let's pretend that move is the same as what TB did. It fits the fairy tale.

Let's play the game anyway. What would TB have looked like with only 4.5M in additional cap space?

I'm long enough here to navigate your BS though. Don't change the subject. What Caps did with Orpik was a blatant abuse of CBA's weaknesses, you can twist it and exercise in mental gymnastics all you want. The amount of space freed up is also irrelevant, what's relevant is that the Caps were much earlier to the "let's make the league look like total clowns" party than Lightning but you conveniently forgot about it and swept it under the rug. Totally in your fashion lol.

Of course they cleared them to do that, they had no other choice. As they had no choice but clear Hawks for putting Hossa on LTIR. They need to respect their own CBA or they can pack it all up the moment they stop doint it and file papers for registering as a bush league

"Look you don't understand, it's different when we find ways to save the cap. When they find their own, they're terrible"..

Embarrassing.

Yes, you are embarrassing to this entire board. So one word of your post is accurate. Great job. When are you moving to the Tampa board?

Sorry, I'm not a fanboy and do not embarrass myself with hypocritical shit you're posting here on a daily basis. Anything else you have to say on topic?

Sorry! I 'm already here. It's one of my boards. Are you moderator?

Not anymore and I did write the rules for this board at the top of the forum, and the rules revision for all of HF a few years ago.

Not a good idea to stir up trouble on another team's board.

I think discussion is useful for the Boards. It's like an essay in which two or more opinions are provided, and you have to prove your opinion is more reasonable with pro and contra arguments. Different views are really beneficial at least for me, because I try to look at the team from many perspective, and find something what makes the team stronger or what is the wickness and go on.
I'd rather stay on this Board cause Tom Wilson is one of my favorite players.

KNOCK OFF THE PERSONAL ATTACKS. THIS IS YOUR FIRST AND FINAL WARNING.

No but I am. You are welcome so long as you are not here to stir up trouble with the regular posters. So far, I'm skeptical.
