I do think whatever team Kaako ends up going to is going to turn his career around. I just think the Rangers are ass at developing talent, and it’s not too late for him. Heck, if the price was right I wouldn’t mind him on the Caps, I don’t think it would be though.

Can't remember a public mutiny targeting the GM. Coaches sure, but not the GM.

Was thinking same thing, IF that report is correct, Drury is PE#1, there’s something deep happening. Deep beyond normal team dysfunction, along the lines of CD inserting his snout into places it’s not normally inserted.

Can’t wait for the story to emerge….

So wait, the GMs job is to acquire players. The actual players meet, and determine that that GM isn't doing a good enough job of acquiring players? Or is their complaint that he's not paying them enough? Maybe they want Trouba back? 🤷
Guessing much of it traces back to Drury publicly putting several players' names on the trading block. If the GM isn't gonna fire the coach, then shaking up the locker room - not saying this is the best way to do that, but he should know the personalities of the guys there - is perhaps the standard move. Trochek and others may not like it, but team performance is crying out for something to be done. Maybe Vinnie wants a change of scenery.

Rags and Preds scoreless so far, at least one of the two big underperformers will be getting 2 points tonight.

NOVA
Scoreboard not kind to us tonight:

* caps lose
* devils win
* canes win
* pens win

Only good thing is Rags lost 2-0. Cause it is fun.

Rongos trending to be worse than the Pens now. Hate to see it.

What would they even sell at this point? Lindgren for sure. Probably Kakko. But a lot of their sludge will be tough to move. Who's taking Zibanejad? Does Kreider even net any value? Do they trade Miller rather than give him a raise/term? Big picture dumping Zibanejad needs to be priority #1 but hard to figure that'll be easy.

The timing on the Shesterkin contract is just so good.

The Rangers are a shit show.

The players are pissed because of the way Drury dumped Goodrow in the offseason. Goodrow used his NTC to nix a trade to the Sharks and Drury then put him on waivers for the Sharks to grab for free. Then you add in the leak regarding Kreider/Trouba being available and how Drury told Trouba he either accepts a trade or goes on waivers and you can easily see how they are pissed. It’s surprising that Drury is being so cut throat given that he was a player himself.

Then the cherry on top is Lavi still having issues with young players. Complete dysfunction

Id love for the Caps to get Kakko I think Carbs could do wonders for him. However not ready to move on from Lappy for him. CMM was in the same boat as Lappy last year and look at him this year.
CMM scored 18 goals last year. Lappy in 24 games so far this year has 0. It's not similar at all.

You could also argue that Lapierre was significantly better in his 4th year after being drafted.

McMichael's 22-23 - 0 points in 6 NHL games; demoted after his slow start; 39 points in 57 AHL games; 10 points in 20 AHL playoff games)
Lapierre's 23-24 - 22 points in 51 NHL games; 2 points in 4 NHL playoff games; promoted and stayed up until the playoffs were over; 17 points in 21 AHL games; 22 points in 20 AHL playoff games

So yes, McMichael's 23-24 is well ahead of Lapierre's 24-25, but the book is not even close to closed on this discussion yet. There are several more chapters that have yet to be written.

I was wondering if Chytil would be a good target from the Rangers. He would give the Caps some assurance of stability as the 3C, but might block Lappy. Cost for him alone wouldn't be too terrible, except the Caps would need to dump some salary first or have NY take some back which would make it more expensive.

I'm a fan of Chytil's, but I think the Eller acquisition likely closes the door on that one.
