League News: NHL Talk - (News n' Scores n' Stuff) | 2024-25 Summer Edition

I think I would stop watching the Caps if they got Marchand.

Jagr, Cooke, Brashear....none of those guys put me off the Caps.

Marchand is a bridge too far.
I’m a Marchand guy. Total asshat to play against but a great player. He’s pacing for 30+30 this season even with Boston’s offensive and power play struggles and he’s a gamer in the playoffs. He’s 77th all time in playoff points per game (Ovi is 63rd), which is ahead of guys like Kopitar, Toews, Barkov, Matt Tkachuk, Panarin, Backstrom, etc. He’s 17th in playoff points per game among active players.

A third line of Marchand-Eller-Leonard in the spring… yes please, sign me up right up for that.

Marchand & Willy on the same team. We would be the most hated and I think I like that.

ps Props to Marchand for dragging Biz on TNT about getting jumped and actually making me laugh.

You underestimate how good his supporting offensive cast has been. Stutzle, Giroux, Batherson, Debrincat, Chabot.
respectfully, no I watch hockey, so I don’t. Ottawa is 20th in GF we’re 1st. Put him in a better situation and he’s a 50/50 guy IMO. But whatevs….fun hypothetical trade target.

Wouldnt mind Marchand if Boston fails. Having Ovi, Wilson, Protas, CMM, Marchand and Mangiapane as the wingers in the top 9 is probably the best in the league. Then Miro, Duhaime and Raddysh are also very good. Still I think the cost for Marchand would be more then I would like.

Right now it looks like Florida and Toronto are top 2 then Tampa have Boston on point %. Boston on point percentage is WC2 with Philly being the closest team. Right now I would guess Boston makes it as none of the non playoff teams look that good.

Agree that TBL likely takes third in the Atlantic.
Of the five teams just below the cutoff (Phi, Pgh, Buf, CBJ, NYI), I like (perhaps surprisingly) Cbus and Buf as the challengers for WC2. They've got the best goals differentials of the lot, "only" -3, while Pgh is -27. We know that's not a determining factor, but it is a useful indicator.

Friedman says they are going to waive Trouba so CBJ can claim him.

I don't see why CBJ, having a tight locker room after what happened to Gaudreau, currently doing well and playing above expectations, would want to add a guy who won't waive his NTC to go CBJ and simply just doesn't want to be there?

I hope no one claims him and bails out the Rangers. Force them to buyout

Would they send him to the Minors like the Habs did to Alnzer?

Maybe teams will finally learn that Lavi isn’t a long term solution and isn’t worth blowing up a roster over? They went from a legit SC contender to a dumpster fire in less than a year lol

IDK I think the team is pretty poorly constructed and he honestly did well to get them to where they were last year (much like he did with the Caps his first season!). Will have to wait to see how things shake out with NYR to see how much of the blame this year is on him, but I don't really think this is a primarily Lavi issue.

That being said, L M A O to the complete tire-fire that the Rags are right now -- couldn't happen to a more deserving franchise!

Shhh…..don’t impede the Lavi hate….it’s the low hanging fruit of complaints.

;)

Hard to believe this isn't going to blow up in their faces. Igor still needs a contract. What sort of environment are they creating? Drury should be on thin ice.
