Also hilarious that Pens reportedly want two 1st for injured, Crosby-dependent Guentzel
THE EXPECTATION AROUND the league is that both Guentzel and Smith will be on the move from Pittsburgh. Though Guentzel loves Pittsburgh and has the utmost respect for Sidney Crosby, it's probably time -- especially considering the road ahead for the Penguins to be top contenders again. Guentzel is already skating and it sounds like he'll be good to go on March 10 when he's eligible to come off LTIR. I don't think anyone has matched the Penguins high asking price for Guentzel (two first-round picks, or the equivalent) but it sounds like several teams are circling, including Edmonton, Colorado, Detroit, Carolina, Vegas and Florida.

Sounds like normal trade negotiations to me. Anchor high.

Pretty hilarious that it's Phillip Grubauer who is one of the worst goalies around this season that shuts out Penguins and basically destroys whatever was left of their Playoff chances.

Now i just need them to fall back to ~10th so that they don't have their 1st rounder in 2025.
I'm real bummed how quickly Grubauer's career went south after he left Colorado. Seems like without a goalie whisperer on the level of Korn or Parkkila, he's just not the same.

Absolutely not!
No, I mean…..really.

Caps used to have a Paul MacDermid that played D.

Is this young Kurtis, perhaps his spawn?

That would make this somewhat relevant for me, as a Caps fan?

(And I have a white/home GW #23 MacDermid jersey. So YES, I AM invested!!)

LOL

Edit — it IS Paul MacDermid’s kin! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂

I knew it! I don’t know much about that prospect the Devils gave up, but unless he’s freaking horrible, the Avs did just fine.

The Devils are the softest team in the league and they get bullied on the regular so I actually get what they’re trying to do, even if I think a guy with 11 goals and 30 points (total) in 249 NHL games played and who averaged 5:05 ATOI this year and was healthy scratched for more than 50% of the season in Colorado is going to make them an objectively worse team. But yeah, he’s 6’5” 235ish and is a mean dude so there’s that.

Looks like he plays BOTH F & D, as well? He’s a unicorn!!

Elsewhere:

Elias Pettersson just signed 8/11.5 with the Canucks.

Someone do a welfare check on @twabby please? I’m too far away to do so

Vancouver out of nowhere becoming a good team was not what I thought would happen. I still think they are a bit of fools gold, but I guess they are good enough for Pettersson to stay.

Not a bad deal both ways. But Vancouver gonna need to move some Cap for next year!

Pens are really able to make it hard for themselves. Up 3-1 midways in the third period. Then let in 2 goals within 30 sec then give up the last goal in the final minute.

What's insane is PIT is 3rd in GA so Jarry and Ned are saving their bacon despite TheTang/Karlsson/Graves trio of TheDumb/TheGiantContract/TheBadContract

Went to bed when it was 2-1 PIT and they were up in shots like 20-8 or sum'n, figured they were going to TCB, glad they blow so many 3rd pd leads
going to stream the last 11m of the 3rd now,
