Devils have some structural roster issues that are problematic. Was pretty easy to see in the game today why Tampa was able to handle them. They need some size and physicalness.Devils look done. What's the deal with Jack Hughes? Awful lately more often than not.
Have to expect Tampa to find a way in. I'll be rooting for them to upset some of the higher expectation teams.
My brain can't compute any winning for either of those teams.Rooting for Pittsburgh today if you want to push for the playoffs, rooting for Philly if you want to go for the tank.
But in the past 7 drafts, they've had two #1OA, a 2nd, a 4th, and a 7th.Devils have some structural roster issues that are problematic. Was pretty easy to see in the game today why Tampa was able to handle them. They need some size and physicalness.
Yeah I'm so conflicted right now.Rooting for Pittsburgh today if you want to push for the playoffs, rooting for Philly if you want to go for the tank.
Yeah would be foolish to write off Tampa. Vasi has been struggling a bit and they have been playing a few rookies but that team is definitely not in a downward spiral. Way too much experience and talent still on the roster.Just need one of Philly, Det, or Tampa to falter. That’s not impossible at all. Granted, Caps need to do a lot of winning. That will prob be the hardest part.
And PS — someone commented that Tampa was a downward spiral when they played us. Maybe so, but they easily beat Isles and Devils back to back after losing to us, so…..
More likely that Detroit or Philly will back themselves out of the playoffs.
My brain can't compute any winning for either of those teams.
He was a former 5th rounder who looked briefly good as a back-up goalie who got a stint as a 1B (and not even for the team that drafted him), then he turned back into a pumpkin. He's far from the first back-up goalie to look good in a limited span but that ultimately wasn't up to being a starter in the NHL.Cal Peterson is so bad. What happened to him the last few years?
Penguins win, and they are right back in it. Tied with Caps in point %.
Flyers lost, which is a good thing, if you think we can make it. Red Wings didn't and they are 9 point ahead and likely out of reach.
Bolts won and they are 8 points ahead. We do have games in hand but i'd still say they are out of reach. Only reason they are in spot that bad is because of Vasilevsky injury and having to play Jonas Johansson as starter for months. They are 7 ROW's more than the Capitals and +5 goal difference, whereas we have -31.
Sabres climbed closer to the race too. They are only 3 points back now.
We play both Red Wings and Flyers in few days... win both and who knows. Maybe they stand a chance after all? But there are lots of head-to-head games between teams in the WC race so any losses from here on out are going to cost them dearly given the hole they are already in.
Exactly this. AND it all starts with the Ottawa game tonite — which we are Home Dogs for, according to Vegas odds.3rd in Metro looks most likely if the Caps should make it. Its not impossible that Detroit or Tampa will fall out, but I believe both are better than Philly.
3 games in hand on Flyers and 6 points back. If Caps beat the Flyers March 1st with the games in hand aswell we should be right there with them. Problem is also Penguins, Devils and Isles are in the race.
Playing Detroit, Philly and Pittsburgh before the trade deadline might at least give the ones making the decision to go for playoffs or sell off some answers.
This Matt Rempe kid isn't going to be playing for long if he keeps asking for fights and then gets his ass handed to him. Olivier from Buffalo cleaned his clock.
