Pens are really able to make it hard for themselves. Up 3-1 midways in the third period. Then let in 2 goals within 30 sec then give up the last goal in the final minute.
I watched the end of this game after getting back from seeing Bob Marley movie. Both were awesome to see! Pittsburg is trash and hopefully EDM puts nail in that coffin tonight. And we hammer it on Thursday!

No, I mean…..really.

Caps used to have a Paul MacDermid that played D.

Is this young Kurtis, perhaps his spawn?

That would make this somewhat relevant for me, as a Caps fan?

(And I have a white/home GW #23 MacDermid jersey. So YES, I AM invested!!)

LOL

Edit — it IS Paul MacDermid’s kin! 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂

I knew it! I don’t know much about that prospect the Devils gave up, but unless he’s freaking horrible, the Avs did just fine.
Kurtis MacDermid is basically Dylan Mcilrath. Maybe a liiiiiitle better but not really.

Would personally love to see both of them in a d-pair just dominating the crease. But they would get scored on hard.

Second coach to sign an extension since end of last season to already be bounced. Talk about a disappointing season. I’d much rather see NYR suck.

Flyers got a point against the Blues. Their next games are @ Panthers and @ Lightning. That Panthers game is their 3rd in 4 days. Flyers get a Sharks -boost next week too.

Isles have a huge chance to make a good run for it. They play Blues next, who played last night too. Next 2 games are Sharks and Ducks. This is their chance to get close to Flyers.

Penguins play Blue Jackets today. They need to win that. Then next game is against Capitals, where both of our seasons are on the line. Penguins seem like they'd need 4 out of 4 from those 2 games since they play Bruins and Oilers on the weekend too. Tough. But if they can get something out of those... they play Sens and Sharks next week.

Devils play Panthers, Blues and Canes this week. Rough. They do have rest advantage on Panthers and Blues, though. They have dug themselves a massive hole though... 4 games next week; 3 are against Rangers, Stars and Golden Knights. Yikes.

Caps only have 2 games this week; @ Penguins and then 'hawks. This is their chance to make up ground. Next week is... horrendous. 4 away games. 3 of those @ Jets, Oilers and Canucks. Brutal.

Remaining schedule strength (1st: toughest):

# - Team - Opponent avg point %:

3. Devils - .585
4. Capitals - .582
11. Penguins - .566
14. Flyers - .562
17. Red Wings - .547
18. Lightning - .547
23. Isles - .542

Same thing for the teams around us (62-67 points), for draft position:

2. Sabres - .589
24. Flames - .533
26. Blues - .524
28. Kraken - .523
32. Wild - .511

Pretty weird situation... Playoffs are sort of within reach (would require stomping on a lot of elite teams rest of the way), but right now top-10 pick seems very likely too, given how tough the Capitals rest of the schedule is. Lots of the teams around them have very easy schedules rest of the way. Capitals schedule after this weeks Pens and 'hawks games is hardest in the NHL.

Time to start rooting for Buffalo down the stretch I guess. 6-4-0 in their last ten. Hardly impossible they finish above the Caps. Probably also ought to hope for NJD/PIT to at least keep trying for a playoff spot.

The Caps could do some buying but hopefully not barring an exceptional opportunity. Just wait until the off-season. Goal differential suggests the Caps ought to be basically a bottom eight team and you wonder how easily the bottom will fall out of their game again when motivation becomes a challenge.
