An interesting (and highly amusing) stat about goal differential.

The Pens are a +13 and are the ONLY team with a positive goal differential to NOT be in a playoff spot :laugh:

That takes a special level of incompetence.

Their goal differential is a product of blowing out tanking teams like the Sharks. I think they beat the Sharks 10-2.

Win for Penguins. Point for Philly, 2 for Leafs and Bolts.

Desperation grows in New Jersey, who just lost again. Next 2 games against... Philly and us. If they lose those, things might shift from desperation to just folding the season.

Loser Stank
It's real. A phenomenon just like momentum

BUF and NJ have been trying to shake it off for years and still haven't
still on DET and MTL, even OTT was supposed to be a bubble team this year

The NBA is off for AS weekend. Their skills comp is tomorrow.

No top 25 NCAA basketball teams are playing, and only 15 DIV 1 schools have games.

Why does the NHL have ONE f***ing game scheduled today? In Arizona? Against Carolina?

You’re talking about a league who’s marketing department is definitely run by a guy who’s Fb profile pic is a horrible angled selfie in the drivers seat of his car. This is the same NHL that thought promoting NFTs 3 years later while the NFT market is crashing is a great idea lol

And markets key events for its hard hitting, violent sport with flouncy fringe pop stars.

What is the timing of schedule releases for the NBA? Could it simply be that the NHL schedule comes out and then NBA releases theirs after the fact and neither the NBA or NCAA schedule is able to be taken into account? I honestly don't know but it is dumbfounding some of the scheduling opportunities that are missed throughout the year.

A small team coordinates with the teams, venues, TV, the NBA and even the NFL (bad job at that for the Caps this year).

It sounds like they're more focused on logistics and the 60-something year old guy heading things up may be of an older school mentality, so they're not looking to maximize opportunities so much as fill the schedule efficiently.

I would think they could anticipate when the Super Bowl and NBA ASG are going to occur every year and plan accordingly to really load up games during those open weeks.

Maybe Jagr wants to break Howe's record for the oldest player in the NHL history. Howe was just 52 years and 11 days on his last game day. Jagr is 52 and 2 days now.

Refs miss a massive Marchand elbow in the Boston-LA game. Wouldn't be surprised if it's 5 games and they just don't call it.

Feel like Jensen would be perfect for the Oilers. He handles the puck better than half the Oiler D men and his skating and ability to play with pace fits that team well

their only valuable draft picks this summer are 1st and 2nd. 2025 is nearly wide open. Would they offer a 2nd?

Matthews just scored his 47th goal. Seems like he will easily make it to 70 this season.

Not sure whether to cheer or boo, lol.

Edit: 48 goals and back to back hat tricks. Far out

Not easily I guess, but on a pace for 74,77 goals now. Two games ago he was on pace for 68 goals. Looks very likely, but a few games goalless and hes back under 70 goal pace. His shooting percentage is insane aswell this season with 21,3 %. Career average of 16,3 %. Makes up for his weakest season in shooting percentage last year where he only had 12,2 %.

Whats interesting is with this years shooting percentage last year he would have had 69,65 goals last year in 74 games and he ended up with 40. In 74 games this year he is on pace for 68,31 goals.

Yeah I shouldn't have said easily. 29 games left and he needs 22 goals. It's a tall order.

But he has 48 goals in 52 games. And only 13 of them are PPG's.

I like seeing records broken and love the increased scoring we're seeing in the last couple of seasons. As I've said more than once I don't like Matthews but admire the talent, and I think it's fair to say he's the best goal scorer in the league today.

Just had to mention how difficult it is to watch the ESPN/ABC broadcasts....I find them horrible. The constant babbling, stories, and even interviews while play is going on and not recognizing goals are being scored is painful. The floating names only get in the way of watching the action. When they're floating around and the NHL flashing ads on the boards are occurring, it's not worth watching if you like the actual action and finer points of a hockey game.

I'll get off my soapbox.
