You literally started your post with defending the outrage. That might make sense for you and your personal outrage but some people are taking this and going "wow, f*** the Capitals, most hated team in the league right now" because they're frustrated with a business decision that was always going to be made.

Being mad at the highest bidder is just... goofy. Pretending that ownership spent whatever amount of money just to f*** with fans and their ability to play pretend through the summer is stupid. People don't have to be happy but they do eventually have to come to terms with the fact that this was a business decision that obviously suited the site owners and the team in order to go through.

If you're left outside of that, it does suck, but that's why this isn't wikipedia and is just a site for CBA nerds to do CBA nerd shit that helped a lot of NHL GMs for free.

If you can buy that and trip your competition before the draft/FA you aren't a shithead for doing it. I'm sure real NHL teams are super sorry for what that means to your fantasy league but they're... not, and you should understand that instead of feeling so entitled to a free public resource for a niche league that you're mad about it going away to the point that you want to blame somebody and won't even blame the seller, but the buyer.
Fair enough. But I was originally responding to a person who could not possibly understand why people were extremely shocked and or upset to see one of their beloved sites closing down. I’m upset about it, and I understand why other people are as well. I just think it was an out of touch comment from them how they actually framed this as a good thing for fans.

June and July are like my heaviest uses of capfriendly. Hopefully it’s well after July 5th that they make the transition.

I was pretty upset when capgeek went down (RIP Matthew Wuest) but CapFriendly filled the gap almost immediately.

I hate losing the tool, but the caps making this investment is a good sign. Vegas has been one of the best teams in the league because they leverage every dollar available to them under the cap. Same for Tampa. I’m glad they’re bringing the smartest guys in house. That to me is a good sign!

In the meantime, I hope puckpedia actually becomes decent, kinda hate their site…

Don't worry everyone. There is no way I'd ever take a position that:

1. Would pay half of my market rate
2. Would ignore my research in favor of hunches about character and truculence
3. Would require me to wear pants
I laughed based on 3 alone....

But I'm in Singapore this week and it's really an amazing place so I'm unlike my usual dour self :P

Serious talk: I've done my own personal calculations and working from home vs. working in office is worth at least $50k a year. Maybe more. Factor in concrete costs like car wear and tear, gas, lunches, and a decent wardrobe. And then also factor in other "costs" like having to wake up earlier, having to spend time in often stressful commutes, having to work in a less personal workspace around annoying coworkers, not being able to run errands during the day, having to take PTO for simple items like doctors appointments and sick kids, and yeah being able to wear gym shorts to work and who would ever want to work in-person without being paid an absolute premium?

I can’t tell if you’re serious or not but since I’m in the middle of a career change working from home sounds more and more appealing for those exact reasons. I used to get a side eye for having to leave work early sometimes for a dentist appointment, it was really aggravating and killed motivation to work for that company.

You might use hockeydb.com as a fallback.

This was so obvious I didn't even think it needs said:

If you owned something and a professional sports franchise came to you and said "we want to buy this" and you don't float that to other professional sports franchises first... the f*** were you doing running a contract-based website in the first place? There's virtually no universe in the real world where the Capitals were the only team interested in buying an NHL-centric all-purpose, very easy to use cap interface that we've had in the background of so many behind the scenes shots in critical periods of the season.

Honestly it's even out of character that they won that bid.

Homie you're talking about fantasy hockey pools. Build some spreadsheets and figure it out, because until your fantasy team is worth multiple millions you're always going to take a back seat to the guy running a real hockey team.

Complaining about an inconvenience with this level of vitriol is something I reserve for teenagers, most people should be able to grapple with the impermanence of the internet era by now.
Ding ding ding. We have a winner!

Lots of benefits working from home. We do hybrid. In office two days per week. WFH 3 days per week. I like the balance personally. But I like people. Not sure if Twabby does. Haha.

I’ve worked from home since 2007. I would never ever ever go back.

Before capfriendly there was general fanager. Vegas bought the site and hired the owner. Now he is the one who is making everyone mad with the cap manipulation

Been 4 years (since covid) for me. Did jump on a window when my company let folks apply for HR approve remote home office. Also gave me an opportunity to move up and become a manager. Now a couple of years after return to office both of those are no longer available to new folks. That said I would have killed to have a three day work week which is what my company moved to now.

yep. I was curious to see how some of you guys would rationalize it. Like I said, the site closing down is a pretty big deal if you're you're a hardcore hockey fan. I'm not pretending it isn't. Anyhow, poof I'm gone. I'm a ghost!

The Washington Capitals have a reached an agreement to purchase CapFriendly.com and take it private in order to stop people from remembering they're paying Tom Wilson $6.5 million a year through 2031.

I think going into the office once or twice a week is ideal. If you wfh all the time you tend to let yourself go a bit.
I rent an office in a building about 5mi from my house. It’s just mine, but there are other people all over the place. None of which are my co-workers. I can use it whenever I want. But never have to come.

That said, I’m here for 4-6hrs maybe 4 days a week. While the kids are in school…..

I had to get it because my son was born, and I lost my home office! LOL. Working from the dining room table or the garage wasn’t all that ideal 🤷🏻‍♂️😂😂

Tonight really feels like a must win for the Oilers, right? I know they’re capable of putting together dominant performances, but I wouldn’t want to go down 0-2 to this Panthers team.

I've only ever worked remote and totally agree, for all the reasons you listed it would take a massive raise to make me give it up. One thing I'd add is that even if you don't have kids or pets, you can use the flexibility from remote work to earn money on the side. I make an extra 15-20K a year dog sitting in McLean, working my remote job from people's houses (most of which are way, way nicer than anything I could ever hope to afford) while taking care of their dogs. Most of my clients stock the fridge for me and tell me to help myself as an extra incentive to stay in with their pets, so there's probably at least a couple thousand in free food every year. It's a pretty sweet gig I can only do because I can fit it around my remote job.
