Assuming BOS, CAR, NJ, NYR, TB, and TOR are locks it’s 5 teams vying for the 2 wild card spots:

WSH
BUF
PIT
NYI
FLA

They really need all of those teams to avoid going on a run.
They need to avoid us going on a run.

Just win tomorrow vs San Jose. Don’t ease up. Get the 2pts. Would be a big weekend.

Detroit now quietly only two points back with three games in hand with a win over Calgary. Seems like no one wants the WC2 spot in the West.

It means McDavid won’t miss the playoffs which is good because the league’s MVP and Art Ross and Rocket Richard winner should be in the dance. It really is shameful how awful a job Edmonton has done building around two of the best players in the world. Getting players like that is a cheat code to winning and the Oilers have done nothing but squander the opportunity.

Similarly, the West is an abomination. The top team in the Western conference would be WC1 in the East by points.

Which btw underscores how well the Caps have done given their age and injury issues. I'm still firmly in the sell and restructure camp, but with all the challenges, they held it together pretty impressively for a while. With Ovie leaving, though, the wheels clearly have come off.

So we need the Metro to trade us to the West. I vote for Arizona. I hear it's nice for retirees. Vegas would be fun though.

Oilers and Rangers playing a completely different game of hockey from the 2023 Caps. No passivity, high motor rate, pucks to the net, play to put the opponent on their heels. We are playing dinosaur hockey and the owner thinks it’s fine cuz he believes it doesn’t matter if the team deteriorates he can sell the chase to 892. It’s pretty insulting actually

Props to the Blues, they saw the writing on the wall and are dealing with it. Two fan favorites gone from the 2019 cup run, but they have 9 picks in this draft with 3 in the first round.

Indeed and Toronto looks to be able to win a playoff round. I hope the East stacks up and overpays and then loses in the SC final.
