Obviously.

The point was that at far as one-hit-wonders go... i'll take the 32-point Playoff run over 45 goals in the regular season, all day every day.
Also on pace for 45 goals means nothing . NYI system is not good for putting up stats

Any interest in p.kane if he's made available?
No. Too expensive and too old. the Caps are trying to get younger and not just add a player to win a cup. They need a lot more than that.

We need a right dee. Even if that forces TVR or new signee to be 7th dee once JC74 comes back.

No. His hip is shot and he’s not been very good this year. Whoever is acquiring him is acquiring a name and have enough underperforming names on the roster.

In separate news, the NHL is back tonight but the Caps don’t play again until Saturday. Kind of a nice extended break for an old team that played the most hockey in the league before the ASG. The Rangers play three games before Washington plays first first game on Saturday so we should have a decent idea of how some of those teams did with the games in hand.

Whatever is wrong with Jake, it's a terrible shame. But it's something that now 2 teams have determined is unfixable. Sad. But also, no thanks.
What indication do you have that the Capitals determined it was "unfixable" or that it was even an issue while he was with the Capitals? We don't know what's going on with him, nor do we know how long it's been going on. Until we know more, claiming the Capitals had it figure into their logic is purely speculation.

Because deductive reasoning: Multiple coaches plainly attempted to get him to change and then the organization gave up.

So trading a player = "giving up?"

If so, I'm not sure we want to trust the judgement of the organization that "gave up" on Chandler Stephenson, Jonas Siegenthaler, Vitek Vanecek, Daniel Sprong, and Andre Burakovsky in the past few years. Doesn't speak well to their judgement.

Or, you know, hockey trades can be made for any number of reasons and just because a player is traded away doesn't indicate they are "giving up" on them.

Until we know more, speculation is speculation. And you know this as good as I do.

Helllllllll no…hard pass.
I mean he’d be pretty much exactly what they need and an ideal player on the second line. Fast and dynamic and someone with the talent to score 30-40 goals. He’d likely be their best offensive player besides Ovi the minute he returned.

Can’t see it happening though. BMac had some comments about him appearing to not be happy here and Jake clearly wasn’t happy with how things went down. He and Lavi seemed to clash also. Maybe both sides would bury the hatchet but seems unlikely. I also can’t imagine a guy who has been fighting demons would want to try and resurrect his career in a place he has history with, even if he did fit in well and was a fan favorite. Could be wrong but I imagine he’ll want a fresh start somewhere.

Absolutely speculation but maybe a substance abuse problem for Vrana? He did have the shoulder surgery last year so he easily could have developed an addiction to pain medication. I also vividly remember him being one of, if not the most, intoxicated player during the duration of the Cup celebrations. Lots of pictures of some extremely droopy eyes for him.

I really hope he can get back into the swing of things and really combat whatever issue is going on in his life. He had a great year in Detroit and there was a lot of hope/hype for him this season. Definitely a player that makes the league more fun to watch.

Careful, HB and Cali... Speculating about Vrana gets Hive all twisted up and sputtering mad like Yosemite Sam with fire ants in his britches...

I mean, he basically invited speculation earlier today...

this is begging the question of "what happened?"

...but if you attempt to answer that question, he hits you with the "You're being mean because he might have a Real Problem that's impolite to discuss!" bat.

The kid's got issues, and while I wish him well there's a mountain of anecdotal evidence from basically everywhere he's ever played that paints a troubling picture. It's not mean to point to those things and the not-so-subtle pattern that emerges.

And if I'm wrong about that and it turns out he's the sweetest dude ever and everyone everywhere has just been out to get him this whole time, I will gladly write him a groveling apology letter. I'll wait till then to buy the stationery though...
