Make sure only 2 points come out of Rangers-Pens and Canes-Devils
Feels like the Pens and Canes never lose as of late (save the other day when they played each other).

The Metro is as competitive as ever, and Caps dug enough of an early season hole that every game feels like a must-win now. Gotta catch that last WC spot to get murdered in the first round by Boston ;)

You don’t say…..it’s almost as if sports and athletes are up and down…..you know humans.

This is why I roll my eyes when I see dipshits mention Seige and the Norris or whatever cockamamey BS that gets slung as an “I told ya”…

A lot of that "burn it down they clearly mismanaged everything" noise has magically disappeared since the Caps started winning and NJ started losing. Hmmm

Back to this topic:

If Wilson makes that hit the world burns and he's suspended for a year.

Or maybe it seems to have quieted down because no one ever said "burn it down they clearly mismanaged everything" in the first place.

There were some "That dude turned out to be pretty good; sure would like to have kept him instead of trying to replace him with two senior citizens and a midget."

Maybe those two things sound alike in your language and that's what's confusing you. ;)

Or not. I know what I read. I had people attacking me via private message over the whole thing. Don't gaslight me, bro.

This was 2 months ago:

Followed by a lot of talk about how the Caps FO is total shit because they bungled Seigs, Vrana, Stephenson, Sprong, etc

So yeah. That all happened. And now it's crickets chirping.

But wait until they lose 3 in a row, or NJ heats up again, and the knives will come back out. ;)

Oh come on...I rarely get involved in the beating of dead horses here, but there was definitely posters here who wanted to burn it all and fire everyone. Even me, a person who wanted Lavi hired before Trotz, wanted him gone a few weeks ago given his personnel decisions.

g00n quoted the post. 8.7%. 4 posters. And maybe 1 or 2 of those were bent after a loss, which is natural.

You make it sound like a lot, and g00n was pretty hyperbolic, too.

The majority of the criticism here over the Siegenthaler thing was WAY more reasonable than "burn it down they clearly mismanaged everything." And most of it was pointed at what we chose instead, not any deeply-held belief that Siegenthaler has become the Messiah.

So the neener neener "Where are all the haters now that we're winning?" trolling is a little much, especially if you're really for a more agreeable forum, as has been claimed.

The coronation of New Jersey as one of the two best teams in the East might have been a little premature, but I also think that their season is far from over. Teams hit slumps over the course of the season, and a December slump isn't exactly a terrible time to do it (especially when their early season play has them in a comfortable playoff position still). Even with this 6 game losing streak, they still have a 6 point lead over WC2, with 1-2 games in hand compared to the Islanders and Capitals. Not to mention they're still at a +27 goal differential on the year. Is New Jersey a better team this year than Toronto or Tampa Bay? Probably not. Will they still make the playoffs? I'd bet on it.

I'm not worried about Siegs. His oustanding defensive play wasn't an abberation at the beginning of the year, it's something he's done consistently for quite a while now. Vanecek's regression could be more troubling, although he's not going to be as bad as he has been in the past few games. But goaltending is the one way it could fall apart for New Jersey. If Vitek crashes or gets hurt, and Blackwood plays like he has for the past 2 seasons, that could be their Achilles heel. Although if that happens, I'd have to imagine they'd let Akira Schmid get another chance in the NHL (and he's played very well so far), and if that doesn't work they could trade for someone like Talbot to help right the ship.

That was the survey right? I'm also including GDT threads, roster thread posts. There were plenty of people who wanted to change when we were spiraling down. Now how much of the kingdom they wanted burned down can beat into oblivion. Because beyond posting a few gifs, I don't care much beyond that. Even this post is violating my 3 sentence rule for msg boards.

And yes, I understand people here can be overly emotional and say 'fire everyone' at random times. Fire all the posters! lol

The observation that posters are more positive when the team is winning and more negative when the team is losing is truly Earth shattering. Amazing that nobody conceived of that before. :eyeroll:

It's a lot more than simply positive and negative vibes, Mr. Knowitall. You were one of the ringleaders.

More than 40% of the people responding to that poll were in favor of a rebuild. Look at it again.

That was just an example via an easily searched link, and it was almost 2 months ago. The dialogue and debate here was pretty much unreadable and toxic for quite a while. Not just because of "negativity" but because every loss or turnover etc was called out as a sign the organization was in complete disarray and the coaches and even GM should all be sacked.

Then on the other hand, with NJ surging the same group of people were harping on the fancy stats etc and squabbling about how he was clearly going to be a stud and we should never have traded him. Then when shown how almost nobody said anything remotely close to that, and most were fine with the trade in the discussion thread, the goalposts were moved to "it's not our job to be right and it's the GM's job so he sucks".

tl'dr: neener neener

To each their own. Only the top option was extreme. The next option was to rebuild but keep a good team around Ovi for the record. That's reasonable. The difference between that and "No let the kids play and retool on the fly" is what? Also trading out some old guys at or near season's end? And they're most likely talking about the ones that get mentioned here a lot -- Eller, Carlson, maybe Backstrom if he's done.

Those options aren't all that different. Only the top option is nuts and aligns with what you said today.

Again that was only one thread at the beginning of November. I'm not going to forensically analyze the poll when it's just one example, and the fact that it was even posted at all is more the point.

Go back and read the roster thread posts clear on through at least the 20th, probably longer, when even you were talking about firing the coach. Plenty of people talking about burning it all down etc.

If the search function wasn't crapping out on me I'd link to some of the NJ posts, too. Find them if you want to.

And I'm not going to go back a re-read 2 months of posts looking for things that annoy me because that sounds like a bad time. I stay up on the posts here. The only thing I don't read are the GDT posts that are made during games because our game ritual here doesn't include me staring at my phone all the time. I get smacked for that.

And I wouldn't take in-game posts as the gospel cuz people say crazy shit in the heat of things.

I think you were hyperbolic in your original statement today, so I made a couple jokes about it. It wasn't my intention to get mired in a semantic debate with you. I don't personally think the "burn it down" rhetoric around here is as bad or as plentiful as you sometimes claim. My apologies if saying that offends you.

Why do you have a tank for an avatar, then?
Shits and giggles. It's not as black-and-white as several posters like to portray. For example ...

Not sure the bolded ever occurred. "Every turnover?" Please. Take issue with actual positions, not positions that you've tried to create in order to reinforce a different point-of-view.

This is such a ridiculous attempt at a victory lap.

Yes, they were losing. God forbid people talk about what they think the best direction is when they're ass. Now they're winning, God forbid people talk about what they think the best direction is when they're good.

Definitely worth taking a bow over.
