Good starts for DET/NYI to start the proverbial second half. Let's see if the collar tightens...

Watching USA Men vs China…..And I’m looking at the Chinese players and I’m seeing mostly white guys lol….

What kind of crooked stuff is happening when Chris Chelios’ son Jake plays for China?!

Lol….so funny. Also funny they all play for the same Pro team, Kunlun Red Star.

Since you are the host of the olympics you have to participate in every sport / competition.

There was a lot of funny stories from London 2012 when the GB team needed to have a handball team.
Some players were given a GB passport because they had a grandfather or grandmother who were 1/4 GB LOL.

edit : and of course both teams (M and W) lost all their games and were outscored baaaaadly.

Pretty sure they put a call out for anyone who was over 6 foot 3 or something and vaguely sporty to try and cobble together a team.

Hope we host again some day, amazing energy while that was going on.

32 Thoughts: Teetering on the abyss, Oilers turn to another new coach

13. In a potentially significant development, San Jose acting GM Joe Will told local reporters that conversations with Tomas Hertl and agent Craig Oster have both sides believing the player wants to stay. “So now it’s about finding a way to have that happen,” Will said. “He’s a player that we want as part of our team and we’re going to do everything we can to make that happen.” Will also wouldn’t commit to what could happen if Hertl reaches the deadline unsigned.

Please do not destroy my dream, Tomas.

Edmonton fires Tippett

They should've done this last year and gotten Boudreau.
It's surprising that they are not a playoff team with 2 super stars scoring on more than ppg. They should've hired Boudreau or Gallant while they were available. You have a generational talent, you do your best to win with him.

I think a trade around Hertl and Reimer could make a lot of sense if Fleury is truly out of the running.

From a cap standpoint it’s difficult to find better value out there with Hertl at $5.625M and Reimer at $2.25M. Reimer isn’t the bonafide can’t miss #1 guy but he’s been just as good as guys like Hellebuyck and Vasilevskiy this year and there’s nothing that indicates he can’t do well in the playoffs despite the small sample size.

I’d happily give up a ton for these two players. Reimer is also signed for another year so while it’s not a long term solution it does allow them another year to try to figure out the position.

I knew you liked Reimer a lot — but Hertl too??

Did you get these two names reversed? I’ve been clamoring for Hertl since last summer! He’s an excellent player who would instantly become the anchor of the second line in DC and would even be an excellent first line center if they decide to move Kuznetsov to the second line.

Reimer isn’t the ideal option in net but his cost both in terms of cap hit and likely assets needed to acquire him would be far less than Fleury (who we still aren’t sure would be willing to play in DC). Other than Fleury no one else stands out as a really strong fit to me. But Reimer’s contract makes him a low risk acquisition to me with plenty of upside.

Potential top 6 trade target seemingly on the move soon. It makes sense from Calgary’s perspective: Sutter knows Toffoli from their time in LA and he’ll fit swimmingly on their second line one would think.

Wonder what the price will be from CGY.

Seems like could have helped here. Has term left too.

Reasonable price from CGY’s perspective. Toffoli has two more years on a team-friendly $4.25M contract.

He would have helped some but I don’t think his skill set is really what Washington needs. They need another two-way playmaker to play in the top 6, and preferably at center. Toffoli is more of a shooter and a finisher, something Washington actually has a decent amount of.

Kuzy, Backs, Eller, and Dowd. None of these guys are getting moved, or moved to the wing.

We are down Oshie and Mantha. Plus, Tofflli not a rental. I think the s would have been a really good move.

I was being a smartass. We all know you yearn for Hertl like dogs yearn for a T-bone.

Makes sense, i dont see why he would ever come to Washington. Well some of you suggested that because it's close, i dont buy it myself.
Yeah, the speculation about the location and his family was stuff people were completely making up (and also ignoring the fact that a playoff rental is something that only has to happen for a few months).
