That's going to be a good contract for Ottawa if Stutzle is a PPG centre .... and the cap will rise soon. And all signs point to Stutzle being a 1C if he continues his trajectory.
 
Suzuki named Captain in MTL

Maybe an unpopular opinion but I don't think young players should wear the C, outside of outstanding circumstances it's unrealistic for an older veteran to look at this boy and think, "yep, that's my leader"

Guys in the lockerrooms who have kids and real lived experience can't be expected to look at someone they view as a child to lead them because they're good at playing a game, it's ignoring human nature and common biases

On the other hand, looking at that roster...who would be a better choice? Only one I can think of is Gallagher.

Also didn't hurt the Pens or Hawks to have young captains.

If Kent Hughes is going to be trading Gallagher in the next 18 months it makes no sense to put the C on him. And Suzuki is entering his 4th year, they know enough by now to know whether he's mature enough to handle the captaincy.

Crosby was an outstanding circumstance

And the more we've learned about what was happening in Chicago at the time Toews wasn't ready, they won on the ice but he failed as a leader

Maybe Suzuki is an exception, but young players are usually not leaders
