Onto my pick
My pick is one of the dirtiest in the history of the sport. He deliberately and violently broke the ankle of who some may call the world's best player at the time.
My pick is the face of a team who won 2 Cups in a row despite their goalie having absolutely tremendous seasons relative to the league during that run. In other words, he knew his knees could bend.
My pick remains deified despite playing in an era where all of 10 guys knew what they were doing out there and most goalies didn't know their knees could bend, while wearing fitted bed sheets and no helmet as padding.
My pick's fragile ego fractured all sides of the love triangle between player, organization, and fans with a player who was/could have been/should have been the new face of the NHL for his generation. Because of my pick's actions, this player was seen as a villain more often than the legend in the making he was
My pick didn't care enough about his draft picks that he forgot the name of his very best one in front of that young player and his family, then laughed about it.
My pick felt so important that, despite having no official roster managerial duties, he routinely shaped the on and off ice product as he saw fit for over 2 decades while desperately and vicariously playing the game in which he felt entitled to. This neverending clamoring not only denied the franchise success, but hampered its ability to evolve with the sport.
My pick stepped in front of a full arena knowing the best player in the history of the organization was going to be traded and used his 1000th game as an excuse to thank him for his service in an attempt to save face
My pick has shifted blame to others within the organization for bad decisions he was a part of, lying to his peers and Flyers fans by saying he held a stance contrary to concensus.
My pick turned hundreds of thousands apathetic toward something previously adored.
My pick is Bob Clarke, he is my first spite pick, and he will be figuratively kidnapped from the Quackship and locked away, never to be seen or heard; his worse fears realized: he will be lost to time, remembered by nobody
