I predict needing to make a lineup of only LWs

I keep looking at that spreadsheet and doing the math, and it's not encouraging. We're going to get boned. I think an extra current player from the first phase also needs to be made available in order for us to have a sporting chance. We can still only pick one of them, but the quality of the possible selections would jump to something reasonable.

Help us, @Hollywood Couturier, you're our only hope.

1. First, and most importantly, it is a privilege to join this awesome draft, so until actual money changes hands, participation is its own reward.
2. Almost as importantly, neither HC nor myself are Gary Bettman to be bent over for a check, especially an imaginary one. We are not going to let original franchises get reamed in the interest of expansion after all the extremely hard work we did the first time around. Bettman is soft. We are fascist.
3. Again, we have no idea whether or not it is preferable to actually be good at hockey in the new dimension.
4. If you change your perspective from whiny to adventurous, it is actually very fun trying to find hidden gems that no one else has taken yet.

"The Tampa Bay FireSticks are displeased to announce the players to be left unprotected in the expansion draft:
  • 1st line: Morgan Rielly (LD)
  • Legend line: Henry "Bud" Maracle (LW)
  • 2nd line: Jamie Benn (LW)
"We stress that our selection of all 3 players from the left side has NO political implications. So please stop doxxing our offices!"

You’re an expansion team. I don’t care about you being competitive. I got your money.

#4 does not apply to me with Thatcher Venmo’s favorite player.
