It's a legit suspension in my opinion. This board would meltdown if Richards took a hit like that from Clutterbuck.

Bracing or not, his elbow was out and he hit a guy flush in the face, knocking him out cold. Probably just a one game suspension if they would of hit him with a major and game misconduct but, since they did not, you get the two gamer.

Brown isn't going to change the way he plays. He'll just have an even longer suspension if he screws up again.

Hasn't seemed to change the way Doan plays.
Well said. If anything it gives Brown a rest before the playoffs. I'm a Wild fan and have always liked the way Brown plays. It won't change him one bit. Now I just hope Pominville isn't out for an extended time. The Wild need him.

The video explanation...is a joke. This hit is similar but however Brown is in control..for the jkkkr fghh He does not even look at him and he doesn't expect a facebutt in his chest shoulder area.

I watched a couple of his hits where it has been similar kind of situation and he did the same thing. As soon as he feels there is contact with the other guy he pushes away with his elbow, in other words he elevates his elbow and you see the other guy put on his ass, but this time the contact were never there because Pominville makes contact with his feet first and then Brown puts out the elbow as he was going to push him back which he would have done if he would hit his torso or shoulder. Since there is no shoulder or torso or whatever you call it the timing is off and it looks like a blatant elbow to the head. All this happened because the timing was off. If Pominville had played it as it should have been done it would be a great hit by Brown and this would never have happened. No 24 page thread about dirty hit by Brown.

When was the last time a Kings player was suspended? Was it Adam Mair for jumping off the bench to protect his teammates during the line brawl with the Sens?

Along with the Stoll suspension, pretty sure that Kip Brennan got suspended for coming back on to the ice after leaving it up in San Jose and Gauthier was suspended for his hit on Georges as far as suspensions go post-Mair/Ottawa.

O'Donnell was suspended in pre-season for running at Matt Martin in KC I think in O'Donnell's last season here.

Is some kind of update? I'm guessing it's not good. Really hope he will be back but that might be wishful thinking.

Weak sauce from Shanahan for a 1st time offender that had no intent to injure.

Umm...Shanahan played for the Red Wings for 10 years

Like that would have anything to do with it. He is now a league employee. Or are you also going to argue that Blake shouldn't have anything to do with it since he played for the Kings? And according to everything that has been shown shanahan asks for opinions from all those on the committee.

Where I agree his must be responsible for his elbow. The other player should not put them in a position where an elbow that was slightly elevated hits themselves in the face. When both players are the same height. He raised it in a way that most would finish a check.

Watch at the 1 minute mark on the video on the first page. If the elbow didn't move into his face, that's one thing but Brown moved his elbow into Pominville's face. If he'd have tucked it in and hit him with his arm/shoulder, different story but it was pretty deliberate.

The player was injured. Not a surprise Brown was suspended. We have a really good black ace up our sleeve in Toffoli, we'll live.

Blake absolutely shouldn't be involved if the incident involves the Kings, Avs or Sharks.

Shanny shouldn't rule on anything directly affecting his former teams, ESPECIALLY the Red Wings.

there is some precedent in these situations. iirc Colin C used to defer the ruling to another person because of his involvement/relationship to a team, coach or player. dont remember the details though

Correct me if I'm wrong...

No call and no hearing from Shanny on this:

Its just mind-blowing some of the responses on the main board to his suspension. You'd think he was Matt Cooke or something.

I'd just like to point out that Pominville had the speed and direction of a player initiating a check. Pominville then appears to change his mind at the last moment and in doing so makes himself vulnerable to any counter hit.
My note against Mr. Shanahan's description "...he extends his elbow right into the face of the player he was waiting to counter hit" is this. From the video you can see yes Brown is going to initiate a counter-hit. Because Pominville changes his mind at the last moment and decides not to make a check, Brown no longer has control of where his hit will land on Pominville because he is not looking at him.
In Summery:
-Elbow - Yes this was an Elbow
-Unfinished Check - Opposing Player went into a vulnerable Position by not finiching his check
-Injury - Was not caused by only Elbowing but was compounded by the Unfinished check

In conclusion 1 game Suspension and we learn how to make Pom-egranate Juice:)

Well looking at what angle Shanny got I can see that Brown did catch Pomm with his elbow. I didn't see that with our feed. You can see Brown leans in towards Pomm and then throws the elbow out in follow through motion which maximizes the point of contact onto the head. That was a bad one. Two games was warranted. No biggie. This at least guarantees that Brown is rested and cannot get hurt in games before the playoffs.

Frankly, I think we should rest some of our top guns vs. SJ even though 4th seed is up for grabs. Ending up in sixth facing VAN with everyone healthy is more of a priority IMO.
