Gave me a boner when the graphic said he styles his game after Matthew Tkachuk and then she said the Benn comp.

Then I watched the highlights haha.

Anyways, I do like his shot. I've done zero research on this draft. Find it funny that studying put would have got that defenseman everyone wanted then the Ducks traded up.

Usually it's low percentage, but it's Blake so this will f*** us for years. It's what he's done for twenty plus years now.
Here’s hoping he develops a rat game.

I know hockey is cyclical but seeing San Jose and Anaheim loading up on high end prospects is a bit unnerving.

LA has Byfield and Clarke of course but what is coming after that?

Can’t predict the future but those teams in rebuild will start making it tough on the Kings sooner than later.
What’s worse is that we haven’t even see Byfield take the position we drafted him to take. And Clarke isn’t even on this team yet. That’s what bothers me, we don’t even know what we have it’s been how long already. This team is a piece of shit

The difference...? Rob did a retool on the fly (rather than a proper rebuild) and wasted a ton of assets on failed signings way too early in the process.

How many years have people been saying the Sharks and Ducks are loading up and drafting exceptionally well, only to see them continuously wind up accomplishing nothing? The Kings have also been in the same position. Don’t believe the hype, and keep your expectations grounded in reality.
Hell, look at Buffalo and Edmonton. This is the easy part, the hard part comes when you actually want to win games as an organization.

And we're already seeing it with the Ducks. Can't move Gibson unless someone does something real dumb. Drysdale already moved (tbf, a nice move for them), and Zegras seems like a goner. The first two main pieces of their rebuild are gone and likely on the way out

Zero years? The Ducks and Sharks haven’t once tried to be a playoff team since they started rebuilding. They’re accomplishing exactly what they set out to do. I hope it eventually works out for both of them to be honest. The Kings didn’t get serious last time until the Ducks became a perennial contender and I think it’ll take something similar to get rid of Luc and Rob this time around.

Greentree is a decent pick at 26. I think he'll get his skating to where it will need to be. His game will translate, once his skating is better....and he's a beast that will be 6'3" 225 in 2 yrs. You don't get named captain at age 17 in the OHL, without being tops among your peers.

Horn's final mock: (from TheHockeyWriters)
However, his skill and shot are remarkable, and him being named the captain of the Spitfires at age 17 last Fall won’t be lost on NHL teams.

I hope they get aggressive and seek out a deal before the second rd starts at pick #33.
Put assets in play: pick #57, Kaliyev and even make #1, 2, 3 2025 available.
Try to get into 33-40, so they can get a 1st rounder they had on their list.
I am sure there must be a few and they probably won't be there at 57.
Albeit, should get someone good at 57. Anaheim and the Sharks are adding
so much and way ahead, players 18-21. And I mean #1 2025 only for a McGroarty

Yes, that's not who the Kings should be competing with, but there should be a way
to get young players in the system, or even ready to play, ala McGroarty.
He has not been moved and NO ONE has a 2024 #1 pick to give them, which
is what was floated. Why not offer the #1 2025? No protection. They will say no,
but get a conversation going. See what their ask would be.

JULY 1. I want to see them get some talent and not the 1M 1.5M level FAs.
Kings have to replace: PLD, Arvy, for starters. And last year lost Gabe, Iafallo, Kupari.
In (seemingly) parting ways with Lewis, Liz, Grundstrom, there are a ton of spots
and Turcotte and Thomas can certainly play, from game1 and stick, but I don't see them
also going with Fagemo or Lee as well, I just don't see them starting 3 rookies up front.
I see some bottom 6 types like Trenin, Duhaime, Stenlund and 1 step above them, Martinook being the types of signings...AND 1 bigger name, ala Marchessault, Toffoli, Teravainen, Stephenson, Bertuzzi being signed.

They overpaid on the wrong guy; PLD and if they have to overpay some on the 'right guy'
go for it. I'd give up going rate for McGroarty. He may not become a star, but he's a stud and
better than: Laferriere, Turcotte, Thomas, and could play this year. Even if he started with the Reign.

Try to move 57 into 30's-40's and get one of: Chernyshov, Stiga, Ritchie, Freij, Basha, Howe, Masse, Badinka, Hutson, Kiviharju, Pulkkinen. 25 slots from 33 to 57.
I think these guys are all gone by 57.

I am liking the differences between 2022 and 2024.
"""Hughes...he can skate, plays 200 feet, responsible player...needs to get bigger and stronger""""
to:
""""Greentree has size, strength, a great release and shot...can beat goalies in tight...strong on the boards...can make plays, is patient and can draw defenders and then make a play for a scoring chance. Needs to improve his skating and first 3 steps and pace"""

OUTCOME, 3 YEARS AFTER THEIR DRAFTS:
Hughes will be on the 3rd line with the Reign, maybe killing penalties and topping out at 20 points in the AHL.
Greentree will be 2LW on the Kings and scoring 25 goals and growing into a stud, power forward.

I don’t remember them doing actual rebuild ever. They did have Perry and Getzlaf join an already good team.

The sharks were pretty talented for awhile there.

Doesn’t guarantee success but if they stay the course they will be competitive.

frustrates me a little bit how they just gave up a solid SAH in faber and bigbrained their way into picking a potentially flawed winger instead of what sounds to be another reliable SAH

but yeah, can't be mad, none of them are guarantees
I thought Faber didn't want to play for us ?

Lol Amen.

The clown above you said QB and Clarke haven't proven themselves yet... but the Ducks have ?

The same posters were shook of Zegras and Drysdale too.

Even the ESPN crew corrected one of there own saying Zegras is a goner and has no future with the Ducks, after someone rolled in with his hype train. You could also add OTT to that list too.
