Serenity now!
They were talking about it on the broadcast that teams only have a list of about 40-80 players. Mostly less than 60.
I tried watching the Canucks top 5 prospects once and that was already insanely hard.I’m guessing 99% of the posters just pretend that they know these prospects selected past the first 3 rounds
Hell, I highly doubt pro nhl scouts know more than 100 prospects each year
Oh I agree90% of scouts pretend they know these players after the first 3 rounds.

It's kind of refreshing that Delorme doesn't even pretend to know.90% of scouts pretend they know these players after the first 3 rounds.
It doesThat doesn't make any sense.
That's their list. I don't know how much they know about the rest of the players, but they don't go in with a 200+ player list of who should go where. That doesn't make any sense.
Maybe it’s 60 players that they actually have thorough scouting reports on. With travel restrictions it must be hard to scout some of these guys. Plus the CHL guys haven’t played. I can see it happening. Especially to teams like Buffalo who I believe have a tiny scouting department. It does
60 doesn’t sound a lot on a message board but in reality that’s a lot of hockey players scatter around the world

I would hope so. If someone is a pro scout and that's their entire job, then only knowing a handful of players really well would be doing a lousy job. I'm assuming they only have 60 or so players that they absolutely know well and are excited about. There's really no need to put a player on their list that they just don't want to draft. But I am sure they have a database with 10,000 players in it, just like I do.
Considering the pride, old boys nepotism, and stats phobia in the NHL. I think it’s imaginable that these guys avoid databases. We aren’t talking about a bunch of Harvard educated execs here. But I am sure they have a database with 10,000 players in it, just like I do.
Not great. He was playing in the 3rd tier Swedish league. To be fair, Alex Edler had the same production in the same league when he was drafted, so that's probably convincing to Benning.
He was playing in the J20 league. Half the guys in that league went to play 3rd tier because J20 suspended play. He was there because Covid. Not great. He was playing in the 3rd tier Swedish league. Okay. Just noticed Myrenberg played Ettan as well. So did 'that guy' Montreal picked.I realize that. He gets credit for the J20 stats as well.
Brock Boeser is just like William NylanderA little off topic but.... Listening to the Benning and Daniel interviews Boeser doesn’t seem to be getting moved anytime soon. They both talked about how they were thin on right shot forwards and saw Garland as a fix for them.

Goes both ways honestly. At worst I'd say most carve out some sort of professional career whether it be AHL or overseas as the floorLockhart drafted 3rd overall in the OHL entry draft. Is this particularly good? Do high CHL drafting usually pan out in the NHL or are they not really that big to look into?
