I see Sam Bennett's name resurfacing as possible trade bait. Get him when the value is low. If I'm the Habs I explore a Pacioretty for Bennett scenario once again. Have Bennett as part of that under 18-24-year-old core the team is attempting to build.

I am actually quite excited. I do not want berg to trade picks for a centre unless that centre is johnny T. I want him to build. This is a deep draft we are getting a handful of 2nd rounders and we can really clean up. In that pile there could potentially be a subban, gallagher late picks. Come on boys we gotta be excited. Lets be positive for tonight.

Just one thing please...Trevor, don't overdo it. Every prospect we've never heard of or every prospect that were chosen way ahead the consensus never amounted to anything for at least that last 10-12 years.

Subban vs Weber was not a horrible trade. Weber had a much better year in year 1. Subban had a better one on year 2, partly because of Weber's injury. You probably don't remember Weber was our leading scorer at the time before his injury forved him to stop playing. There are reasons too why Subban is still on TSN's trade block only 1 year after being acquired. He's a controversial figure. And Weber is exactly what this team needed.

Not replacing or bringing back Radulov, the purge on defense last year, and 2017's trade deadline were horrible and part of the reason why this team has done horrible this season. Weber and Subban are two franchise Ds. This trade has nothing to do with the lack of success of this team. Subban wouldn't have prevented anything.

Draft junkies make me laugh. As if reading 2nd hand written reports made you guys any more knowledgable that your average fan. Get off your high horses. You said a bunch of pretty ridiculous stuff as well. Shooting point blank on every single move Bergevin does not make you more knowledgable.

Newsflash for you; Galchenyuk for Domi won't do a damn difference neither. The problem with this tool isn't the trades he makes. It's the complete lack of direction and his refusal to bite the bullet and gove what it takes to fill the key positions that are blank in our roster. Mainly the 1C slot.

See, that bolded part is the reason a lot of posters don't like you.

I don't read scouting reports and an not a draft junkie, I just think I have a much better eye for talent than you do and our past interactions firmly confirm this.

Just the fact you mislabeled twice just shows how off you are, like most posts uou make.

I only care to watch the top 15 or so draftees, cuz I don't have time to waste on the rest of them. And what I do is watch all I can get my hands on for those few players.

The rest resides in how I percieve them, and regarding this, I know I'll trust myself and many other posters over your assesments.

No he's a mediocre prospect. He's a late 2nd to me.

I have him 50th.

I wouldn't be mad if we draft him 56th or 62nd. That's it.

35 and 38th. You can have real good players.

One prospect I think is vastly underrated is Xavier Bernard. Kid has Colton Parayko all over him if he fulfills his potential.

repost from the trade board;
JD Burke of the Athletic was on TSN 1040 and was just asked what the biggest buzz is in Dallas as he has been there all week.

His answer without hesitation....

Summary:

Montreal is locked in with Kotkaniemi. They LOVE him. They are trying to trade down to a spot where they think they can still draft him and gain some assets as well. He guessed top 8 is the furthest they would trade down.
JD burke also said if MTL cant find a partner then MTL will 100% draft Kotkaniemi at 3.

I predict he takes Tkachuk. Bad move if he does.
Anyone we take has potential to be the best player we've had in many many years. I've learned to not get too high or too low on a draft pick because I've felt strongly both ways before and been wrong both ways. To me it's just embarrassing to remember what I thought about certain players and the payoff of being right isn't worth the anger or the arguments.

Even though I'm replying to you FlatIron I don't mean you specifically I'm just saying people should temper there expectations over any player we do or don't take. The draft is a time for optimism and we really don't know if whoever we pick will be the right pick for years. Even though we are on the internet and there are really no consequences for what we say I think should just keep are emotions in check. Enjoy healthy debates but some people really get out of hand on here.
