So, you'd prefer what looks like a likely 1st round exit while keeping hold of some UFAs that would absolutely draw value on deadline day vs the same result and getting assets back?

Why do you think it's a likely first round exit?

Too many people writing Dumo off. Guy's good.

Need backup, here. Where's Jmelm?

I like Dumo, he has been playing great in WBS(scores his 1st last night!) and had a decent showing in the NHL. With that said, if we can flip him for a F prospect with similar promise, I would be all for it.

I don't think we look like a likely 1st round exit team. Its not impossible just because the first round will likely be against a really good team in the division. But I think this team is good enough to beat any team in the league.

Nice deal for the Wings

OT: Anyone else see what Murray has done for WBS...I think he let up one goal in February and something like a .993 SV%.

Murray+ for ROR:):sarcasm:

Performance (or lack thereof) vs division opponents this season coupled with them adding significant assets in the last few days. Add in that the Rangers and Isles just seem to be the most horrible matchups (size, speed, goaltending, etc.) and it isn't exactly encouraging.

because it's earlier than usual, shero did the same last year after a pretty uneventful deadline

I've heard of GM's pushing back their anticipated availability if something changes. :D

I really admire your optimism. Takes some mental strength to endure so many early playoff exits year in and year out.

I'm not really surprised that this is uneventful. JR did all his shopping early, and seeing the prices I'm really happy he did. It'd be nice to see an upgrade for Malkin's line, but you'd have to move Kunitz or Sutter to make that happen. I just don't see JR doing that during the year.

I sort of concur. It's why I'm not big on that defensive rental. It's really not going to change the equation. If JR makes a deal that involves giving up assets of any significance, then I want it to change the equation (perhaps not as big an impact as Hossa, but something like that changed the equation).
