He's been bad early this season but if there's ever been a guy not to rule out for having a rough stretch it's Ovi.

I dont like the in season tournament but if you were looking for a gimmick I was thinking a rivalry week in the middle of the season would be a nice change of pace and add excitement...maybe the games are worth 4 points instead of 2.

I know its not perfect but just did it fast and tried to make it even. Not everyone has strong rivals and some teams have more then one.

2 games a night on National TV all week. Early start and late start. Play out your regular schedule the same otherwise.

Interesting thought. I just wish they could somehow cut back on the schedule in the second half of the season.

I know, I know, it will never happen but the NHL season is simply too gruelling to expect great hockey every night. I think they had it about right back in the day when the schedule was 72 games.

My first thought as well. I was ready to write off Ovi years ago when he went through a similar slump ... he rebounded nicely but he was quite a bit younger - this time he has a lot more miles on him as he approaches 40 so we'll see.

Actually, there is some fear that Backstrom's career may be over and make no mistake he has been a big reason for Ovi's success. From Backstrom to Strome is headed in the wrong direction.
