The difference between a “dominant” xG% and an underwhelming one can be like 2 shots.

Looking at analytics after one game seems kinda silly when you realize what goes into them. A seasons sample size you can definitely put some stock into, but hockey analytics has a long way to go.

Also when I read how people create their "models" they take so many assumptions it makes their numbers not even make sense.

Im definitely a numbers guy and a math guy in general but I have a hard time buying into a lot of the hockey numbers.

There's not enough controlled resets for any statistical model to be overly reliable.

Baseball it ain't.

Loloilers

Honestly, I dont know why I instinctively root against them. I think, like the Penguins, I’m predisposed to root against teams preordained for historical greatness without actually achieving it first.

I don’t think Q or Bowman should be back in the league again on competency alone at this point. Their blame in the Beach scandal isn’t quite as severe as some make it out to be but they had their hands in it enough for it to be a head scratcher to allow them back.
I think we don't know enough about the Beach scandal and the interworkings of the Blackhawks during that time to truly know who knew and what was brushed under the rug.

Regardless, not sure how Bowman ever sniffs another job again. Guy was legit awful for 6-7 years. Q was doing well in Florida and I think can still get it done. Bowman? Fraud.

Being generous, I think Q and Stan heard about what happened and passed it up the chain, assuming it was handled by Ownership/John McD. Which is enough IMHO to not make them evil but still negligent and not responsible enough in that situation to justify another job in the NHL. They've both made lots of money and had long careers in the NHL. Keep them out.

I'm shocked the league is even discussing bringing them back. Would've figured they'd be banned for life.

Q has the second most wins all time. Him I get. I think what he did was gross but people not caring doesn't surprise me.

The Stan stuff is baffling. Like why take the PR hit for that guy?
