NYR fans are NOT happy with Gallant’s deployment or tactical decisions and I cant blame them. A team that stacked at forward needs a much better transition game.

In fairness to him, there are like two forwards in the top six who comprehend the concept of defense or backing.
 
Panarin looked pretty poor today. 6+ turnovers trying to force the play to Kane for half of those at least. Kane was open plenty today.
 
The Rangers deadline definitely feels like one out of the nineties. Trade for the biggest names possible, then crash out of the playoffs because you can’t just build a team of superstars and expect it to work.
 
Hockey fights are lame as f***. Two guys grabbing jerseys punching each others helmets until one of them loses balance and falls down as if it’s a big deal like “ohhh Lowry dropped Nurse!”

Not directed at you Putt Pirate, just in general. I think the fights are weak and would be fine if they’re gone

I am with you on the fighting. I get there is a purpose and all but staged or for legal hits are ridiculous. I am well past it but the kids playing g perhaps want to have the option? Who knows.

I have no problem with two guys who have a beef with each other dropping the gloves. But like you said, a guy having to fight because he just delivered a clean hit is stupid, and the aggressor should always be assigned an instigator.

As for staged fights, game misconduct for both of the guys, imo.

Yeah if you like watching people beat each other up you're way better off watching actual combat sports. Hockey fights don't mean anything 90% of the time nowadays it seems like.
 
Pigging backing on this fighting convo… anyone see the refs hold back Copley and Gibson a couple weeks back? Copley was giving it to someone on the ducks Gibby had enough and skated to the redline and gave the ice a couple big whacks then stood there like an absolute boss like come at me. Copley immediately tries to go over and the refs stop him. I understand why but at the same time they were both willing…

If not for the idiotic rival bids Houston would have been selected for expansion in late 90's

I hope Houston + Atlanta + Kansas City + Portland get teams

4 divisions of 9

Div 1 = Edm, Cal, Van, LA, SJ, Ana, Sea, Por, LV
Div 2 = Pho, Dal, Hou, Stl, KC, Wpg, Min, Chi, Col
Div 3 = NYR, NYI, NJ, Was, Car, Atl, Fla, TB, Nas
Div 4 = Mtl, Ott, Tor, Bos, Buf, Det, Clb, Phi, Pit

I'd love to see KC and Houston get teams. More Central time zone teams is a good idea.

That being said, they'd be behind the eight ball financially as they'd either have to fork over hefty rent payments to play out of existing arenas or build new arenas themselves. Loads of dough plus expansion and/or relocation fees and I'm not sure if there are a lot of people biting on being potential owners.

But all it takes is one multibillionaire interested and it'll happen in almost any American market.

Atlanta getting a third crack at the NHL before Quebec City gets their's would be pretty funny, too.
 
Portland and Houston make sense to me, Atlanta not so much, and KC im 50/50 on. I think we’re 5 years at least before we see another expansion plan, especially now that we have even divisons. If theres another expansion id imagine itll include one team for each division or where teams move to keep the divisions even


Edit: also the more you expand the harder it is to balance the divisonal schedule with the home and home series with every team which the league seems committed to.

As if the league is already not talent starved on non-conpetitive bottom feeder teams...eg. embarrassingly horrid CBJ,CHI,SJ,ANH,ARZ,and other bottom ten teams.
Shame on greedy owner ifvthey dare water league down even more than it is now.

Yeah, I saw his statement. I also watched the video. The statement and the video look nothing alike. Even if that is what happened, thats not how you handle that.
