Somebody was doing it either way. Even if he was at his career norms he was getting paid in free agency.

Sure. But how much does Bo Horvat producing at his norms help the Islanders? I’m assuming they have a deal in place, cause if they paid this for a rental from outside the playoffs, its even worse.

Weak return for Vancouver.

I'd be pretty happy if I were an Islanders fan.
Think it’s a fair return. First from a team that’s struggling a bit. Raty a good prospect and I guess they could complain about taking back beau compared with all their other wingers and the cap situation. By my guess is this is just step one on a pretty big roster retool for the Canucks.

My guess is the way lou operates is a extension will be announced.

I agree. But I doubt it will be much less than his FA number. So I question how much better off they are paying assets for a guy at a career high, pretty much guaranteed to produce less in the future on a team starved for offense.

He’s gonna get a good contract no doubt. We will see the final number but Lou does do a pretty solid job keeping aav down in most negotiations. Isles need goals and let’s face it team wise their time is now even before this move. We will see how it all shakes out.

Gary Bettman atvtgexNHK Winter Meetings in December said the salary cap would only rise $1million for 2023/24 (bad mew for teams tight to the Cap) but that it could rise more if they generate more Revenue than exoectedbetween January and end of the season...

However it appears that Bally Sports, which is a collection of Regional Sports Networks on streaming service (Bally bought thecold Fox Regional Soorts Networks and few years ago ) apparently may soon be in Bankruptcy...they owe tons of money to sports teams they cover ...including many NHL teams,so if they declare bankruptcy, the money teams get from contracts with Bally may notr be paid....The money for games this season may have already been paid ...not sure if the amounts contracted for this season already All paid or not...but once they declare bankruptcy (unless they can find a buyer) obviously there would be no more coverage of games fron teams they contracted with and no more revenue streams from this source...so future revenues could drop for many NHL teams and unless they get sone other networks to show and pay for those games ,this could drastically affect the cap downwards by a substantial amount as expected revenues no longer coming from that source.

And even if another network conglomerate contracts to show games for former Bally associated teams, the price they pay the NHL could be a lotvlowrrcas competition loses 1 bidder and thise left can say takecourvlower co tract offer or leave it and maybe nobody shows your team's games replacing Bally...

I just heard of this problem today...surprised Bettman mentioned none if this bombshell possibility loomingvon the horizon.

With that Horvat trade perhaps things will get moving a little early this year? Especially as the arms race out east starts to heat up.

It’s a terrible song and it’s about a guy lusting after an underage girl until everyone went “bro…” when he first gave that explanation and he’s been claiming it meant something else ever since.

Plus, loads of idiots really get into it when it’s playing, basically everything else is much more easily ignorable. It is the wave of stadium songs.
Never knew that appreciate the info

Definitely, they need centers bad.

Quite the lively debate on twitter right now about how much Kane is actually worth given how bad he’s been this year.

That isnt the interesting part, pretty much everybody agrees he’s been trash this season but also that he’s not particularly motivated and has no support on a bad team. His value will depend on how far teams think his enthusiasm can turn around.

The more interesting discussions are the ones happening as people go back through Kane’s numbers (fancy and box score) over his career, and some of the takes are great.

“Model-breaking offensive talent” and “truly generationally shitty defensive player” are too of my favorite takes so far.

At first I didn’t mind the break week but now I am not so sure. I think the 4 day all star break is enough to be honest.
