The Hawks suck, the main boards suck, lets get some more "around the league" discussion going since we're not getting any exciting coming our way until the Draft Lottery in May.

Halfway through the year, who do you think is winning the major awards?
What do you think of McDavid and the Oilers this year?
How about Robertson coming out of nowhere and having a monster season?
Seattle apparently looking like a playoff team?
Jack Hughes in Hart contention?
Karlsson ressurecting himself on an awful Sharks team?

Tage Thompson turned a lot of people from what an awful extension to maybe that's a bargain really quick.

Not sure why people thought the deal was awful. Even if he was a 50-60pt player, 7mil in a 3-5 years would still be a decent deal.
There was doubt that he'd even have another 50-60 point season because it was such an anomaly

At no point in his career prior did he show that kind of potential

Well yeah, players do breakout at some point in their careers. He looked like a really good player last year, it's not like he just stockpiled points next to superstars.

It happens often where a player has a wild season and then they come back down to earth

I mean, it's pretty rare for a player to get 40G and 70pts and then not be at least a 50-60pt player for a good handful of years afterwards. Especially when they are young (24-25) and look really good while doing so.

Big Seattle fan myself the rest of the year. I bet Hakstol to win the Jack Adams at +3300 at the beginning of December.

True, though Tuch and Skinner ain't bad. Tage isn't playing with bums by any means.
Skinner was garbage the 2 years before Tage went off last year, and Tuch was a 50pt player who was often hurt. Tage helped them, more then they helped Tage, and just by watching him, you can see who the line driver is.

Neither of those guys are stars or HOFers, so my point stands. You found one dude who had 40G and 70pts who didn't go on to have a decent career and he played with one of the best passers of our generation.
