Cat is making a minimum of nine million next season on a one year deal that walks him to unrestricted free agency. Cat will be gone if he doesn't want to extend. Ottawa absolutely wants to keep him.

I wasnt really thinking about the single collapse, more so that they’re out of a playoff spot as we pass Thanksgiving and several of the teams right behind them have games in hand.

Yeah, I hear ya - shows how difficult it is to make the postseason.
Each time I see the Rangers play this season, which hasn't been that often but I think their record should be better. Of course, it isn't even December yet - lots of hockey to be played.
