Hmm.. i overall like it better, seems like you need more structure to get to win..
I think the balance is off though.. Ill play moments at semipro and not be able to score one frigging goal despite 45 shots in a 5 min game, then go allstar and its like there is no goalie. I also feel like too many games the goalie is on fire, and when you manage to get one in, everything goes in.

Have quite a few games in.

Gameplay is different, and for the better. Did some minor tweaking to the sliders and as long as I play smart defense it's not too hard to have the goalie over a 0.9XX% save percentage. CPU gets more shots on goal this year, and rarely see 5 goals on 15 shots as the previous years were at times.

The pressure mode is good, just wish when you get a new line change the new fresh line isn't skating in soft sand right away. I get a gassed group out there being sluggish, but if you get a stop in play just find it odd fully rested guys are rattled right away. The team with the offensive zone pressure can still be dominate but don't care for the game throttling your players in the above scenario.

*Only play franchise

Does anyone know if someone has compiled a list of all the players missing from the roster? I’ve made up my own rosters with a few dozen prospects for the next four drafts, but mostly looking for top players that have already been drafted

I've been playing competitive CHEL since the release of the game and I've come to the conclusion that there isn't an update that can fix this game. I've filled out the LG feedback form and basically told them they need to tear it down and restart to fix the broken physics system. It's just unbelievable how bad it feels.

They need to stop trying to simulate what a hockey game looks like and start recreating the feel of playing the sport. The end result might be something that looks a bit more ''arcade'' but should be much more realistic in feel. The game is just a mess.

I would say the game is not that good if you are looking for a realistic simulation style hockey game but it is the only current option we have. I personally accept it as an arcade game and enjoy it with that understanding.

Yep. They suck at making a realistic hockey game. They should just go full on down the arcade route and not worry about realism. Even trying to replicate a game like NHL Hitz would be a much better lane than whatever they're doing now.

It's on sale already , was offered 53.99+tx + points or whatever from the NHL 23 menu.
I'm good , I'll stick to NHL 23 as mediocre as it is.

For your last part, I think they really need to go back to the basics of it: its a video game. Why do I have to experience the same cutscenes as a real game? Just let me play. Every whistle feels like a chore.

And I dont have the creativity to redo the gameplay, but like, real life hockey games are 60 mins of game time. I doubt most EA NHL players want to play 60+ mins games - most are set to 4-7 mins periods right? So, stop trying to emulate real life game... since you want to see scoring in 20 mins games instead of 60

Only one thing can save this franchise...

it takes soooooo long to get into a CHEL game, frustrating how many broken dressing rooms you can get trapped in that never find an opponent. playing at peak times helps reduces this, but you still ending up waiting far more than playing when you use the game. a very annoying outcome.

Does anyone ever get the bug on franchise mode, where the gameplay seems literally in fast-forward?

So I got the game because it was on sale and hybrid controls were added back...but they took out hitting with them? The right stick does nothing now.

"Removed fighting from HUT Moments"
-> that's great, was really annoying.

Still no option to turn off icon passing, animated boards and the awful celebrations. The cellys are my biggest complain from a presentation standpoint right now, I can live with the rest.

Cellys are literally immersion breaking for me. Who evers idea was to change it, clearly doesn't watch hockey

Do you find it works? I feel like having to do down up imma just miss everyone lol.
a lot of times if you land a big hit they call charging. pressing up should still hit them all though it's not a full hit. its more of a bump the player off the puck

If you press x the hip check works 100 percent of the time lol.

You can press B to hit if the thumbstick doesn't work for you.
