Isles lost points by winning in ot. I didn’t read the elo method because I probably wouldn’t understand it. But I assume relative strength of opponent and expected results are a factor.

Yeah @Crazy Cizikas is right, it could happen.

Isles with a score of 2731 had a very high expected result against the 2511 pens.

Maybe 78% expectation to win

A win is 1, a loss is 0, a tie (if we had them) would be 0.5.

I am treating an ot/so win as 0.75. A loss is 0.25

Since they did not meet expectations 75 to 78, they lose 3 points.

Pens got 25 to the expected 22 points, they gain 3 points.

Yeah, it kind of highlights who's hot vs not.
I've noticed that elo score is not a good predictor of who will win.

That said, the highest / lowest / and average elo scores might be more indicative of team performance.


What I would love to do is add a chart of team trends as the season goes along, but that chart is too much work and looks ugly at the end.
