Nobody has done the great canes... So here I am.
My Opinions on what they'd be.
(In alphabetized order)
Brett Bellemore 75
Zach Boychuk 77
Patrick Dwyer(if he resigns) 80
Justin Faulk 80
Nathan Gerbe 81
Ron Hainsey 79
Jack Hillen 78/79
Michal Jordan 75
Eddie Lack 83
John-Michael Liles 81
Elias Lindholm 80
Brad Malone 73/74
Jay Mcclement 86
Ryan Murphy 74
Riley Nash 74
Andrej Nestrasil 72/73
Victor Rask 75/76
Rasmus Rissanen 71/72
Jeff Skinner 89
Eric Staal 90
Jordan Staal 87
Chris Terry 75
Cam Ward 88/89
James Wisniewski 85

Some players the ratings i have people might think different. These are the main players that i think fit in that category.

Eddie Lack: In my opinion, 83 is a little high for most backups but in this case i think Lack will be a Starter but be backup to Ward as Ward will be an Elite. Lack has put up pretty good numbers with Vancouver as their starter and I think he will do just as well in net for the canes. Since he is a stellar goalie he can backup well if Ward goes down. THIS IS THE PROBLEM WITH THE CANES: When Ward went down last year nobody was to backup him. Khudobin wasn't that well and we couldn't have our offense do well enough to come back from a 4-0 deficit every night he was in net. Also, with Lack working with EA on the new goalie moves ingame i feel Lack would get a little spike in the game.

Jay McClement: I think he would be a 86 due to this, in 14 he was 80 and 15 he was 82. He should make a spike up to 86 even though he had 21 points with the canes(7 Goals 14 Assists) but he played every game for the canes and they've rewarded him with a pretty decent extension. He has been a nice player to use when you need somebody to get a quick goal and things along those lines.

Those have been my ratings for the Carolina Hurricanes. #TheStormIsComing

Ridiculous things to say.

Yeah, I'm a Flyers fan and even I find that offensive. I can't stand when people devalue players because of one season. Datsyuk was the best player in the world at one point. That's not a mistake. I question if you've even seen him play.

I love Vorcaek and he's just coming into his prime, but Datsyuk achieved so much in his time that Voracek, currently only hopes to achieve.

Somwhere in time
Taylor Hall playing in the worst team in NHL with coaches changing every season.

2010-2011: 0,65 ppg
2011-2012: 0,87 ppg
2012-2013 : 1,11 ppg
2013-2014: 1,07 ppg
2014-2015: 0,72 ppg

and let's add WC gold medal this year to his "accomplishments" where he was 1,2 ppg.

Henrik Zetterberg playing in a great organization, under one of the best coaches and also with Pavel Datsyuk

2010-2011: 1 ppg
2011-2012: 0,84 ppg
2012-2013: 1,04 ppg
2013-2014: 1,07 ppg
2014-2015: 0,86 ppg

I mean it's pretty even maybe Z being a little bit better. Your perception of player skills is flawed if you think Zetterberg is superior to Hall. Also on basing the player ratings on accomplishments is also flawed. EA's scouting department looks every player individually and evaluate their skill set based on that. If a player is a fast skater and has great hands doesn't mean his speed should be 85 and dekeing 85 just because he hasn't accomplished anything.
Whatever. Lets agree to disagree.

Well what do you think McDavid will accomplish? And think about his skill set. Certain players should be toned up rating wise in something because they excel at it(i.e. Ovechkin with highest shooting rating) but whatever, EA's ratings are whatever. At least we can edit them this year so I so no real reason to complain.
Difficult to tell since he will play with other young stars. But i would bet money on him playing in the line below Lander after awhile. But anything can happen in hockey.

Prediction for the Flames...

Gaudreau (86) - Monahan (86) - Hudler (87)
Colborne (82) - Bennett (82) - Frolik (84)
Bouma (83) - Backlund (83) - Jones (82)
Ferland (78) - Stajan (81) - Shore (79)

Raymond (82), Jooris (80)

Giordano (90) - Hamilton (86)
Brodie (86) - Wideman (84)
Russell (83) - Engelland (80)

Wotherspoon (77), Smid (81)

Ramo (85)
Hiller (84)
Ortio (82)
So Flames will be the best team in NHL? Dont think so.

Moen (77) - Sceviour (76)

EA NHL 15 Cover is reportedly being changed due to Patrick Kane's rape allegations. Cover is now shown with blank silhouette on Xbox and play station store apparently. :amazed:

Since it was announced that you can edit overalls and potentials, would anyone want to work on a overhauled ratings system? Something with more disparity perhaps? I like having a big difference between playing with a Superstar and average players, the superstars should dominate most of the time.

Examples of tiers: (6 F 4 D 2G)

Tier 1 - Superstar players, 90-99
Crosby 96
Ovi 95
Tavares 93
Stamkos 93
Kane/Toews 92

Doughty 94
Keith 93
Weber 92
Karlsson 92

Price 94
Lundqvist 93

Tier 2 - All star caliber players, not a legit Superstar 86-89

Bergeron 89
Nash 89
Tarasenko 88
Seguin 88
Couture 87
RNH 86

Hedman 89
Josi - 88
Seabrook 87
Letang 86

Bishop 88
Bobrovsky 87

Tier 3 - Top 6, Top 4, good starting G 80-85

Stepan 85
Turris 85
Ladd 84
Saad 83
JVR 82
Soderbeg 80

Hamilton 85
Sekera 84
Goligoski 83
Seidenberg 81

Crawford 84
Halak 82

Tier 4 - Bottom 6, bottom pairing, backup G 75-79

Kelly 77
Bolland 77
Ott 76
Eller 79
Boyle 78
Campbell 75

Gleason 78
Jackman 77
Ference 76
Stuart 76

Enroth 78
Johnson 76

Tier 5 - 13th F/7th D, AHL quality - 74 and below

Should be self explanatory.

This was just a 1st draft I kind of just banged it out quick, they can definitely be tweaked. Here's an example of a roster with these ratings:

Schwartz (85) - Lehtera (82) - Tarasenko (88)
Steen (85) - Stastny (83) - Backes (84)
Jaskin (77) - Berglund (78) - Brouwer (80)
Ott (76) - Brodziak (76) - Reaves (75)

Bouwmeester (83) - Pietrangelo (89)
Gunnarsson (81) - Shattenkirk (88)
Lindbohm (76) - Bortuzzo (77)

Elliot (83)
Allen (82)

If anyone is interested PM me, would be easier to split it a few ways.

I don't agree with Schwartz being an 85... more like 86-87 and Tarasenko at least a 89. Not many people scored more goals than him.

OMG you guys are mad. Its not because Ive not placed Datsyuk in the TOP 20 that he is not a good player. I just expect him to regress a little bit. Plus, Datsyuk have never been the best player in the world.... Just stop being frustrated

There is no diffrence between 85 or 86.

Oh my god enough with obsessing about the overall number. 85 can be different from 85. I think the overalls can stay the same but I'd like more distinction between the individual stats. At the moment Sidney Crosby is the best defensive forward in this game and that's just not true. Offensive superstars should be given attributes that implies their offensive skill but leaves them a bit weaker on defense. Only players like Datsyuk or Toews could have balanced stats between off and def. I think they're already dong fine job with that with dmen. Defensive defensemen are always good at defense and physical but they lack hands and shot accuracy. With forwards they're to even for my taste. Basically every 2-3 liner have 83-85 for puck skills and shooting categories and that's too even if you ask me. Then again you can make an argument that how much a regular NHLer actually differ from another regular.

Assuming the entire team is back next year.
:caps:

Ovechkin (94)- Backstrom (89) - Ward (83)
Johansson (84) - Kuznetsov (85) - Chimera (81)
Burakovsky (82) - Beagle (81) - Brouwer (82)
Laich (80) - Fehr (82) - Wilson (79)

Orpik (85) - Carlson (86)
Alzner (84) - Niskanen (85)
Gleason (82) - Green (84)

Holtby (88)
Peters (80)
Grubauer (75)

The team changed a bit since I posted that:

Ovechkin (94)- Backstrom (89) - Oshie (86)
Burakovsky (82) - Kuznetsov (84) - Williams (83)
Johansson (85) - Beagle (81) - Wilson (79)
Chimera (81) - Laich (80) - Galiev (78)

Orpik (85) - Carlson (86)
Alzner (84) - Niskanen (85)
Schmidt (79) - Orlov (81)

Holtby (88)
Grubauer (76)
Peters (78)

Offense (84)
Defense (83)
Goaltending (81)
Overall(83)

Top 6 got hell of a lot better but the bottom 6 and bottom pairing got worse. We replaced some vets with younger players, they could see their ratings rise.
