at first I was thinking that Rammer and EA as a whole's unwillingness to talk game modes for next gen (specifically EASHL and GMC) meant either that they've taken it out or haven't touched it at all.

now I'm thinking it could just be that they realize leaving the questions unanswered means a lot more discussion about the issue on places like this and twitter...would be pretty shrewd marketing on their part

until of course it reaches the tipping point and everyone starts believing the modes are not included...

Do you really think that they would COMPLETELY revamp EASHL in NHL 14, one of the biggest updates in that game, then get rid of it the next year?

NHL 14 came out after the next-gen consoles. If they knew they were going to have to scrap it eventually, especially THE NEXT YEAR, they wouldn't have spent the majority of their time on last year's game revamping it.

EASHL is EASHL. I think that's why they're not talking about it. You make your character, you make or join your team, and you play the game.

I don't see how it's possible for them to just get rid of the most (maybe 2nd, most for me and all my friends) game mode. It's just not.

NHL 14 was released in September 13'... Next gen consoles were released in November 13'

I do agree that there is no way EA is getting rid of EASHL... that would be suicide for EA and the series. Same if they got rid of HUT or GM. Honestly I'm old school and prefer to just play franchise or season mode, but online experience is the present and future (not only for this series). I can't even imagine the sales drop if EA decides to omit certain game modes.

...also to be noted next gen consoles should have been released this fall (Nov 14'). My PS4 has been collecting dust since playing BF4 got old in March!!! LOL!! Plus I skipped out on NHL 14 for PS3, just could not see how it was any better (if better at all) than NHL 13. The August 26th demo can't get here soon enough!!! I am in severe NHL video game withdrawal!!!

Oops. What I should have said was that the team decided not to develop the game for the XB1/PS4, and only the 360/3 for a release in September.

Point still stands, they wouldn't have spent the majority of their development time completely revamping their biggest game mode to scrap it a year later.

Agree... still very weary though that EA has said nothing about modes, nor have they shown a single second of ACTUAL GAMEPLAY... I want to be excited, but EA isn't giving me much to get excited about.

Let's face it... EA's trailers have looked amazing since 2008. Problem, always cinematic cut scenes running on mod'ed hardware, not what you actually see during gameplay!!!!

I'm more surprised that we haven't heard anything about HUT than the other game modes.
Obviously we know it's in the game, but I find it weird that they haven't talked about it, seeing as it is their big money-maker.

I'm going to stay positive and hope that they are just keeping quiet so that it all comes clear at once and is awesome. Here's to hoping :handclap:

I want, you know, REAL gameplay videos. Where there is at least one person playing. Not whatever EA edits together.

ok. That was a badass trailer. The arenas look amazing. Pause the video at the MSG arena and it looks like an actual picture. Problems:

a) it's only a couple of people closer to the camera that do a different animation. Other than that, you still see like 3 or 4 people in any one shot doing the exact same thing(although I wasn't expecting all new animations, but they way they talk about it that's what it sounds like they're saying)

b) Please don't make the first person camera a thing again.

c) Authentic arenas are a nice addition, crowds look better. But I don't play the game to look at the arena or the crowds. Show us actual gameplay or game mode info!

I understand EA has to release trailers like these at events like this but that should be no excuse to not release gameplay at some point.

All they would need to do is play 1 game and upload that directly to youtube and then all of us wanting to see gameplay would be satisifed.

Also it is kind of ridiculous that with a month to go we know next to nothing about the game. We know they overhauled the presentation and then...? If NHL 15 looks like a flop I may hold out longer on getting a next gen until another big release interests me.

I still don't understand why EA can't just tweet something like "Less than 1 month away, get pumped for EASHL, HUT, GMC etc". I don't believe this is building hype at all. There is too much negativity around this.

I don't know why they took HUT out of the demo

I might be part of a very small crowd, but I hated the HUT demos. All I wanted to do was play the game, and I had to go through a 45 minute process of organizing a hockey card collection before I could play. Not my cup of tea, that's all.

Totally agree, I can't figure out if EA is hiding something bad, or something innovative when it comes to gameplay.

It took less than 5 minutes to get your lines ready and play
