so kinda like HF then?

and thanks to this thread, im really scared to buy it now... :help:

The game plays great out of the box (I'm never really a fan of tuners). If we were actually going to have a season it might be nice to finally have the NHL moments live. It's a nice defensive game, with the old fighting system from the late 90's - early 2000's this game would be a lot better. However, that's just my opinion because I liked the random occurring fights. Now, I can't even hit or fight the cpu after it gets a penalty because the AI takes control of the players. So if you're in to the good fights from "back in the old days" then the game might not be worth it.
I miss the days that you could almost have brawls in NHL video games after injuries.

This game is so frustrating during online play.

What's the point of having the stick lift button if it results in a ****ing slashing call every time you use it?

I sure hope that Tyler Bunz remains in the game after the next update. I use him as my #1 in nets for the Oilers and I would be sad if he left the game. EA should add ECHL next year.

Wow, with his 'beautiful'.. seven goal, twenty point season, 4th liner Ryan White is asking for 2,375M per season.

I believe even more, this game is trash. It looks like eye candy, yet, without any smarts, kinda like those Hollywood movies.

Also, what were his minutes player, hits stuff like that all raises the players ego.

I wish I could change my vote on the poll, I'd set it to "It's okay" now. It was good when I first played it, but with what I've heard about in Be-A-Pro with the GMs dismantling teams and the (in my opinion) useless player roles in GM mode (mTop4, m1stLine, etc.), the fact that I have to adjust for the true broadcast swivel with my shooting/faceoff controls (This one really annoys me because I like that camera). I could go on but the game does have some good features, like having the user play an actual style of hockey called "defense".
I don't like how the goons are being phased out but just like the real NHL, I guess the good old days of having one player that would enforce a code of conduct is gone. I can't shove the AI after a penalty and I have to hope they fight me after a big hit instead of having fights occurring when frustration was high. Blah Blah hitting blah blah, I miss the big hit button as well.
It's still a decent game, but now I'm wondering if, in my opinion, it was really worth the $60. Right now, it seems to be worth maybe $40 if I just play exhibition games offline and avoid the modes.
I'm biased towards the older games anyway.

very rarely called though, you should definitely be crashing the net after every shot, since if the goalie doesnt cover the puck, you can force it into the net by creating chaos

When I play club as my goalie, my team just loves me since I can manage a way to get about 3 goaltender interference penalties called against the opposing team each game. Not sure how I manage it, not like I play differently or anything.

I kind of like it ... had way too many goals called off and penalties last year. There's probably a happier middle ground, but I prefer it this way rather than last year.

Why would you give your player a qualifying offer when you can sign him directly? What is the advantage of offering a qualifying offer?

In Be a GM mode, of course.

If you qualify and wait it out, his demands lower. That does, however, open the player up to being offer sheeted for more than you wanted to sign him at though

Gives you more time to sign him, if you need to clear cap space or something, or if you just want to wait and see if he'll accept less money/different term/a two-way deal instead of a one-way. Sometimes they'll just accept your qualifying offer too, but you do open yourself up to offer sheets.

I love outplaying teams online, only to lose off ******** goals like the intercept puck spin 180 degrees put it top corner goals.

Yeah, it's frustrating. In HUT, I average something like 30 shots a game, with maybe 20 of those being high percentage shots from the slot. My goals for? A whopping 1.8. My goals against is something like 1.5, so I'm still winning games, but man is it getting boring. My leading scorer is David Perron with about 40 points in 150 games or so.

Multiple advantages:

1) More money for signing pending UFAs (better to lose a guy for something than to lose a guy for nothing)
2) AI teams make stupid offer-sheets sometimes and you end up w/ much better players as a result (i.e. Dallas offer-sheeted Dale Weise to an obscene contract and then proceeded to have a horrible season, giving me a top 5 pick and a 3rd rounder).
3) As mentioned, contract demands. A lot of players will ask for multiple years, even if you don't want them on your team for multiple years. This lowers as the off-season goes on along w/ the amount of $$$ they're looking for.

Just be smart about it.

Is the player in question a Top 6 forward, Top 4 defenseman, or Starting goalie? Sign him
Do you think the player in question will be a Top 6 forward, Top 4 defenseman, or Starting goalie in the future? Sign him

If the answer to both these questions is no, qualify him, as he's probably easy to replace and, as I pointed out earlier, you may hit the jackpot with the compensation.

Be careful with waiting out RFA's with QOs. Lucic was asking for $10M during the June week, came down to about $9M in August, and when training camp opened he wanted $11M

I had to qualify Subban because Gomez's contract was putting me over the cap so I had to wait until I could send Gomez to the minors to sign PK.
